If you’re heading for Disney World this summer, take note of a couple of high-profile refurbishments set to begin in the next couple of months.

First up: Under the Sea, Journey of the Little Mermaid in the Magic Kingdom will close for routine refurbishment. This one is short – just a week as it goes offline on July 21 and returns on July 26.

Next up: Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin in the Magic Kingdom. This reimagining was previously announced (Buzz Lightyear Refurbishment Will Make It a 21st Century Experience), but without a start date. We now know that it will begin on August 4: the last day to wield a blaster on this version of the ride is August 3, 2025. An end date hasn’t been announced, but will be sometime in 2025.

Finally, Spaceship Earth at EPCOT will be closing for some well-deserved TLC on August 25, 2025. No reimagining has been announced, so expect the Phoenicians and all your other favorite scenes to return. No end date has been announced, but the ride is scheduled to reopen “later this year”.

ICYMI: We’ve known about this one for a while, but Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island will be closing in just a couple of weeks, on July 7.

Although it took three visits for the Disney bug to "take", she now really wishes she lived a lot closer to the Parks.
