The 10 Biggest Hits on the Disney Adventure

The Disney Adventure is unlike any other Disney ship, and that’s not necessarily a bad thing! Instead of building a ship from the keel up like the rest of the ships in the fleet, Disney purchased this ship partially built, and we weren’t really sure what to expect. There are some things they did on this ship that work really well! There are also some things that don’t work as well. This week I’ll talk about the hits for me. Next week I’ll talk about the misses.

1. San Fransokyo – I’ve said it before, San Fransokyo is the best themed area on the ship. From the second you step inside, you can easily forget you are on a cruise ship. You’ll feel like you have stepped straight into a movie set filming the live action version of Big Hero 6. The details are amazing. There are arcade games, a great group interactive game called Hiro Training, a trolley full of seats, a meet and greet with Baymax, and four small movie theaters. The entrances to Edge and Vibe, the tween and teen clubs, are disguised as storefronts along a charming street inside. It’s all just so well done!

2. Imagination Garden-View Staterooms – Imagination Garden, the open air space in the center of the ship, itself is a huge success. It’s such an inviting open space, that feels like the hub of the ship. These staterooms that overlook Imagination Garden are going to be very, very popular. Although they can be a bit noisy at times, the views of the stage shows in Imagination Garden make up for it. We saw families out on their verandah during every show we went to see in the space. At times we were quite jealous of their proximity to air conditioning while we were at the mercy of the open air.

3. Concierge Offerings – The Concierge offerings on the Adventure have kicked it up a notch from Concierge on the other ships. The lounge and sundeck are beautiful and huge, but that’s true on the Wish-class ships as well. In this lounge, however, there’s a jewelry store, as well as another store with a selection of the most popular general merchandise and Concierge exclusives. On the second story, there’s a private fitness center and spa exclusive to Concierge guests. The spa even has a miniature version of the Rainforest Room amenities that Concierge guests can use for no additional cost. There are also two private spa suites available for Concierge guests to rent for a minimum number of hours. Another highlight for me was the grill on the sundeck with some of my favorite burgers onboard! If you can swing Concierge, the Adventure is the place to do it!

4. Quick Service – There are four included Quick Service spots scattered on the 10th deck in Imagination Garden and Discovery Reef, and they are all excellent. Gramma Tala’s Kitchen serves Polynesian food, Mowgli’s Eatery has Indian cuisine, Cosmic Kebabs serves gyros and kebabs, and Stitch’s Ohana Grill has absolutely amazing burgers. They also have late hours, unlike most quick service on the other ships, so they’re great for a late snack or dinner alternative.

5. Palo Trattoria and Café – This stunning two-story version of Palo has mostly familiar offerings and is easily the most beautiful of the fleet. Palo Café is located right outside the front door, and they sell the exact same versions of pizza that Palo Tratorria has inside, as well as the very popular almond croissants in the mornings. I don’t love quick service upcharge dining on ships in general, but Palo Café is a good option for anyone with kids or who doesn’t want a more formal sit-down meal.

6. Open Breakfast on Disembarkation Day – On most Disney ships, on the last morning you’ll go to the same restaurant and table for breakfast where you dined the night before. On the Adventure they have open dining in the dining rooms. You can go to any of them during two hours (ish) they are open. As someone who loves early dining for dinner but hates early dining for the departure breakfast, I love this option!

7. Fireworks – I’m a big fan of Lion King, so I enjoyed The Lion King: Celebration in the Sky fireworks show. But let me tell you, you feel every single one of those 6000 people onboard when those fireworks start. I hate to add costs on to an expensive cruise, but the Dazzle and Delights dessert party may be worth it just for a guaranteed spot without 5900 of your closest friends right next to you.

8. Marvel Landing – Marvel Landing is a fun space with a great ride which I’ll talk about next, and two cute rides. The cute rides are Groot Galaxy Spin (a Dumbo type ride) and Pym Quantum Racers (small cars to be driven on a small oval track). Neither is targeted at adults, although adults can and do ride. The appeal for kids is off the charts, however. They’re both fun, although no one should ever ride them in the mid-day heat. We also spotted various Marvel characters roaming in the wild several times a day there.

9. Ironcycle Test Run – Ironcycle surprised me. It’s better than a small coaster onboard a cruise ship has any right to be. It’s fast, and the angles when you are going down towards the water some 20 decks below are breath taking. We all loved it!

10. Remember and Avengers Assemble – The shows onboard were all exceptionally well done, and incredibly popular. Avengers Assemble was amazing! We saw it a couple of times. Imagination Garden was the perfect setting for it. I’m not a big Duffy person, but Duffy and The Friend Ship show, also in Imagination Garden, was very popular, everyone seemed to love it. I thoroughly enjoyed Remember, and the WALL-E and EVE puppets were amazing. My favorite part of the show may have been when they asked guests to remove any mouse ears before the show. What?! I was so excited. Why do they not do this every time? Simple courtesies.
