Frontierland in the Magic Kingdom has a few new dishes and a couple of relocated treat spots.

Hot Honey Chicken from Golden Oak Outpost

Hot Honey Chicken with Sweet Potato Fries, $12.99

Marshmallow and Candied Pecan-topped Sweet Potato Waffle Fries

The hot honey wasn’t hot at all, but it made the chicken tenders very sticky. That’s not a complaint ~ the sweet sauce was nice. The marshmallow appeared to be melted marshmallow fluff dusted with hunks of candied pecans. As you’ve probably guessed, this is a very sweet dish. Sweet potato fries are already sweet-leaning so if you’re hankering for a savory dish, this probably isn’t going to be for you. We’d get the chicken tenders again but we’d order in person and ask to hold the marshmallow sauce.

Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe

New Barbecue Bacon Cheeseburger

Barbecue Bacon Cheeseburger, 14.79

Angus Beef, American Cheese, House-made Bacon Jam, and Barbecue Sauce with French Fries

The “bacon’ in this burger is in the delicious jam and not strewn atop the burger in streaky strips as the name implies. We just love when Disney culinary makes a jam or a sauce in-house because they rarely miss and this jam is no exception. The actual burger patty is thicker than the standard Magic Kingdom burger, and the taste is fine, but it was a bit toothy for us. This is our official petition to be able to order a cup of the bacon jam with our side of fries!

New Churro Loops at Pecos Bill

Churro Loops, $7.49

Tossed in Cinnamon Sugar with House-made Chocolate Ganache

Ok, Disney. We see what you’re doing here and we’re excited. Let the pastry chefs and sauciers run wild and we will be first in line with our corporate cards out. We have never been fans of Disney World churros as long as Disneyland churros have been available, but these weren’t bad. Throw some decent chocolate ganache on them and you’ve got yourself a respectable snack.

Construction

Piston Peak construction is full bulldozers ahead and that means lots of walls and relocation. There are still several snack stops throughout Liberty Square and Frontierland, you’ll just find them occupying new real estate.

The popcorn stand that used to be located on the corner when you turn from the main Frontierland path to Big Thunder (where the glorious row of gardenia bushes used to reside) is now perched against the exterior wall of Pecos Bill’s across the street. This spot only gets congested during parades.
