Is Le Cellier Steakhouse Still Worth the Money?

At a time when our Disney dollars are buying less and food portion sizes all over Walt Disney World are shrinking, is Le Cellier Steakhouse in the Canada pavilion of EPCOT still worth the high price? Yep. And here is why..

TouringPlans Subscriber rank and rating for Le Cellier.

If you and I don’t usually agree on Disney World food, you can rest easy with this review. TouringPlans Subscribers (Liners) rate Le Cellier 92%, Above Average, with a rank of #27 out of 92 table service dining locations in Walt Disney World. If the Liners love it, you know it’s good.

Le Cellier has been around since 1982 and the fact that they still enjoy steady business isn’t a surprise. The service is solicitous and the Cast Members are knowledgable about the menu.

The Food

Artisanal Cheese Plate, $21.00

Artisanal Cheese Plate, $21.00

Craft Cheeses, Honeycomb, House-made Jam, Nut Granola, Toasted Sourdough

While I am still mourning the loss of the Beef Fat Candle on Le Cellier’s cheese plate from years ago, I was pleased with this iteration and it all comes down to the cheese selections.

  • Creamy Brie: Simple and a safe choice, but it was the perfect temperature and melded into the sticky jam and crumbly crust of the sourdough beautifully.
  • Point Reyes Toma: Firm, creamy, and a slight bite that is lovely with a dab of honey.
  • Point Reyes: The dairy star of this plate! There are two reasons I knew I was going to love this cheese before I took a bite. First, I could tell that it was sliced with a cheese wire or similar tool that wasn’t going to force the natural blue veins out of pattern. I knew each bite would taste as it should because the formation was intact. Second, I could SMELL the salt and the pluck! A bit of this and some strawberry and I felt like Remy with the lightning Tomme de Chèvre de pays.

There are no wrong choices on this cheese plate. Mix the cheeses and accompaniments and sprinkle a bit of the nut granola. It’s all so carefully selected that $21 is a good value for this plate.

Steakhouse Wedge Salad, $16.00

Steakhouse Wedge Salad, $16.00

Tomatoes, Bacon Lardons, Ranch Dressing, Point Reyes Blue Cheese, Garden Herbs

We’ve established that I’m easily swayed by a beautiful cheese selection, but add in a sprinkle of bacon, really good steakhouse ranch dressing, and fresh herbs?!? A solid wedge salad and a shrimp cocktail were the pinnacle of appetizer fanciness for most of my childhood, and my older brain still agrees. Especially when it’s done this well.

Le Cellier Bread Service with Maple Butter

Yes, the bread service comes before the appetizers are served, but I was too excited about the cheese plate to put this first in my post. Anyone who has ever stalked the dark wood walls of Le Cellier will remember the pretzel bread. I’ve learned to take only two bites of the bread with a small smatter of maple butter lest I ruin my stomach for the delights I know are coming.

7-oz Filet and Macaroni & Cheese, $65.00

Butcher’s Cuts Accompanied by one Side and one sauce.

Macaroni & Cheese: Port Salut-Cheddar Sauce, Toasted Herb Crumb

I know the picture doesn’t exactly convey “this-is-the-best-steak-on-property” but stay with me. First, I was sharing the filet with my teenager who does not enjoy a rare steak, so I asked for them to commit a crime and prepare it medium to medium well. I know. It’s ok. The center was the most perfect warm pink and the sear was 10/10. I love that Le Cellier takes their steak prep so seriously. Our Cast Member came to our table seconds after I took my first bite to make sure it was perfect. It was.

Allegedly, the cauldron of still bubbling macaroni and cheese was delightful. I managed to scrape a bit of dripping cheese from the side of the giant pot before my child claimed the entire serving as her own. She’s asked me several times since our meal there last week if I can find the recipe, so I’m going to say this is a win, too, even though I was not permitted a whole noodle.

Braised Mushrooms, $12.00, Creamed Spinach, $12.00, and the Sauce Flight, $9.00

Braised Mushrooms, Creamed Spinach, and the Sauce Flight

Braised Mushrooms: Sherry Wine, Herbs

Creamed Spinach: Sauce Mornay, Parmesan

Sauce Flight: Chardonnay-Truffle Butter, Cabernet Demi, Cognac-Peppercorn, Béarnaise, Sauce Verte

As a reminder, we aren’t exactly on Disney’s good side as far as their public relations team is concerned. We pay for everything we do and eat, and this meal is no exception. That said, this is the best money I’ve spent on food in Disney World in a long time! I’ve always bellowed my appreciation of the exceptional Sauciers on property and Le Cellier deserves the same praise.

No matter what you order here, I’m begging you to get the sauce flight. Skip dessert if your budget doesn’t allow for an extra $9.00. The Cabernet Demi and the Cognac-Peppercorn were outrageous. I wanted to stand up and clap for the kitchen, but I have a teenager that I’m afraid of embarrassing, so I simply dipped everything I could spear into the sauces and made impolite noises of joy as quietly as I could. The Sauce Verte was perfect, but my least favorite of the flight. Next time I’ll ask to sub a second Chardonnay-Truffle Butter instead.

The mushrooms could easily take the place of a protein for me on my next visit. The Sherry Wine made them juicy and sweet and I can’t wait to have them again.

Technically spinach is good for you, but the Mornay Sauce/parmesan to green veg ratio was heavily skewed in the best way. Look at the torched ring of cheese in the photo above and tell me that’s not a delight?!? It tasted even better than a circle of warm cheese sounds.

Heritage Chicken, $41.00

Heritage Chicken, $41.00

Crispy Potatoes, Roasted Peppers, Spiced Yogurt, Harissa-Herb Dressing

I’m a sucker for a Frenched chicken leg because it signals that the chef was fussy with the entire plate. There are approximately 487 layers of flavor on the platter shown above and they all go beautifully together. Other than the Roulade of Chicken at Citricos, this is the best example of supremely well prepared foul I’ve ever had.

Our meal was so delightful that I only managed one bite of the maple cookie lagniappe laid before us with the check.

Le Cellier requires 2 Table Service Dining Credits for anyone using the 2026 or 2027 Disney Dining Plan, but if you’re going to order the feast above, you may want to save those and pay cash since the whole bill was $183.04 plus tip.

Annual Passholders and Disney Visa Cardmembers receive a 10% discount on food and non-alcoholic beverages.

What’s your standard order at Le Cellier? Let me know what I should get on my next visit!

  • I’ve never eaten there. Saw this article and was hoping that you would review the ribeye, my favorite cut of steak. Have you ever had it before, Crissy?

Hiya, TwoBits! I have! That’s my favorite cut at Le Cellier, but I can’t eat it beyond medium / medium rare and I was sharing with my daughter so that wasn’t an option. Now I feel like I need to go back soon to review the ribeye, right?! – Chrissy

  • Fabulous review! The New York Strip is absolutely outstanding and arguably one of the best steaks in Orlando; it’s cooked to perfection every single time I visit. Also, those little maple cookies served at the end are a total chef’s kiss!

Hi Rich! Thanks for reading the blog! In all my visits, I think the New York Strip is one steak I have yet to try. Adding it to my list! And you’re so right. Those cookies were 10/10. My spirit was willing, but I just couldn’t manage any more food! Next time I’ll ask for them to go! – Chrissy
