Disney World offers Disney PhotoPass Service’s Memory Maker, an all-inclusive package that captures ride, character, and special photo opportunities for one price. Once you have purchased Memory Maker, you’ll be able to download all of your photos from the My Disney Experience app. PhotoPass opportunities include:

  • Photo spots in all four parks, Disney Springs, and Disney World Resorts
  • Character meals
  • 15 attractions including TRON, Tower of Terror, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring the Muppets, Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin, Space Mountain, Expedition Everest, and Guardians of the Galaxy
  • More than 100 Disney Magic Shots including the “bird’s-eye view” shot at the Magic Kingdom, special party shots at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, Jollywood Nights, and After Hours events.
  • Character Meet & Greets

Our focus today is on the photos at some character meet & greet locations. Many character meet & greet locations have PhotoPass Photographers present that will take photos and scan your MagicBand or ticket to link them back to your My Disney Experience account. Most photos can be viewed in your app a few moments after your picture is taken.

PhotoPass Photographers take pictures with their cameras but will also snap photos with your phone or camera, too. Other character meets have a PhotoPass camera box in place of a human Cast Member.

PhotoPass Camera Box at Town Square Theater

The Mickey Mouse meet & greet at Town Square Theater in the Magic Kingdom has a PhotoPass camera box, pictured above. The camera box is a stationary camera that snaps photos based on movement and timing. When you exit the meet & greet, there will be a machine with a lit MagicBand icon reminding you to tap to save your photos.

Off the Page, the new character meet & greet spots in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, use a combination of PhotoPass Photographers and camera boxes for different characters. Rapunzel and Mulan have camera boxes while Donald & Daisy, Stitch, Chip & Dale, and Goofy have PhotoPass Photographers. You can read all about this space right here.

The camera box technology has improved in the years since Disney has put them in place, but it’s still something to be aware of. Practice your 45 degree hip shift poses in advance to maximize your shots!
