A Test Track Lounge? – GM Conference and Training Center + Video

While visiting Walt Disney World almost two months ago, my aunt, a retired GM employee, brought me up to the GM Lounge.

Never heard of it? I hadn’t either.

This hidden gem is located right above Test Track at Epcot. I use, “hidden,” because had she not pointed out the entrance, I would have either never noticed or thought it was simply a door for Cast Members only.

…Want to take a look inside?

Come on!

Have you been inside the GM Conference and Training Center? Let me know! Special thanks to my lovely aunt for bringing me (and my other aunt for coming along!).

  • I have seen not seen anyone to consider who has worked for GM .

  • I visited the lounge several times when I was an active GM employee. Free drinks and snacks, although I don’t know if COVID restrictions have changed that. Plus, I could stand at one of several vehicle design stations and configure my test track car any way I wanted with no time limit. My configuration was saved to my Magic Band, where I could just scan my band after I went downstairs to do the attraction. It was great. Also, I was given a FastPass – no reservation needed.

I retired from GM about 1/2 year ago. I did not work there long enough to be officially classified as being retired, just as having left the company. I did not leave to go work somewhere else. I am wondering if I go back to WDW in a few months if I will still be able to access the lounge or if that is only for active employees and official retirees.

    • The documentation I have seen seems to consider anyone who has worked for GM for at least 5 years to be eligible under the retiree program.

  • Very cool! Interesting that the lounge and perks remain when the sponsorship is no longer in effect.

Someone pointed out that Chevrolet is owned by GM, so that’s why!
