As scheduled, the official Halloween Horror Nights 23 Twitter account (@HorrorNightsORL) announced at midnight that the newest haunted house experience coming to Orlando this year is After Life: Death’s Vengeance. Like the La Llorona maze announced the night before, this is an original concept by Universal Creative.
Each year one of the houses within HHN uses 3D technology, with Penn & Teller Nuk’d Las Vegas using it last year. The concept of using 3D in the mazes started back at HHN 21 with the haunted experience InBetween. This year After Life: Death’s Vengeance will be the “3D house” and Universal is promising a tribute to the past as well as even bigger blood curdling chills.
This is darker thematic than we’ve done with our 3D mazes in the past. This will be in the vein of InBetween but more violent aesthetics.
– Mike Aiello, Universal Creative Director
The story behind After Life revolves around the serial killer Bobby “The Blade” Galletta and the electric chair punishment he received for the many murders he committed within the town of Carey, OH.
This place needed to be cut out. I painted that town red, RED, RED!!!!!” I would kill’em all again. Carey was mine. Sparky, light me up.

After 2000 volts from ol’ Sparky were sent coursing through his veins, Bobby “The Blade” left this mortal coil, but it’s then when his troubles truly begin…
The After Life house will take guests through the past, present, and not-long future of Bobby’s life as they revisit the ghastly headlines in which he made his name from, his gruesome electric chair death, and finally his out of body experience being given justice courtesy of the souls he took from this Earth. Mike Aiello said that he and the creative team were inspired during the creation of this house by listening to Johnny Cash and reading pulp comic books, a powerful 1-2 punch.
