All About Embroidery in the Magic Kingdom
A Mickey Mouse Ear Hat is a rite of passage for all first time Disney World visitors, right? Well, if you’re going to get the ears, you’ll want to have them embroidered! Let’s breakdown where to have it done and how much you should expect to spend.
Location & Hours: Curtain Call Collectibles

Curtain Call Collectibles, just beyond the main entrance, is the only spot in the Magic Kingdom where you can have clothing, hats, and other items embroidered. Curtain Call is also the exit point for the Mickey meet and greet at Town Square, so it’s always stocked with a wide selection of classic gear.
Curtain Call is open from Early Entry until the park closes – including Extended Evening Hours. If the park is open, Curtain Call will be open.
How it Works

First, you’ll need an item to be embroidered. You can buy a hat, item of clothing, or bag at Curtain Call or any other merch location in Walt Disney World. The item must be brand new with no signs of wear. We’re specifically talking about Mickey Ear Hats today, but you can check with the Cast Members working at the embroidery desk if you’re unsure about an item.

Next, it’s time to pick what you want on your hat, your thread color, and font. The photo above shows the colors and fonts available as of today. There are some strict rules about what you can and cannot have embroidered on your hat. The final decision is up to the Cast Member at the embroidery desk, but the following are prohibited:
- Company names (no TouringPlans for us!)
- Disney names. Usually. It’s up to the CM on duty, but you can rule out names like Peter Pan, Cinderella, Stitch, etc.

The photo above shows pricing for the available embroidery options:

- Premium Embroidery, $7.99

- Deluxe Embroidery, $9.99

Annual Passholder discounts apply on the usual merchandise items but there is no discount on the embroidery.
A Cast Member will write out your design on a laminated tag to make sure they have the color, style, and spelling correct. You’ll have an opportunity to review the information before leaving your item and paying for the service. You’ll be asked to provide a cell number where you can receive text updates from Curtain Call.
The image above also shows the text messages that we received from Curtain Call when we had our “Len” Ear Hat embroidered. We got the second text saying our hat was ready just 26 minutes after the first text confirming our number. Obviously the wait time will depend on how busy they are when you arrive and the complexity of your order.
Our hat was $19.99 and we picked the Basic Embroidery option. We paid $22.34 after tax and discount for our embroidered ears!
We’re delighted to say the prices for this service have stayed unchanged for a few years. It’s nice to be able to find such an iconic souvenir for under $25.00!
