Credit Card Chip Readers Arrive at Epcot

Anyone else get frustrated when they have to swipe their credit card three or four times before the machine accepts it? We spotted at Epcot that the chip reader function of the credit card machines is finally working. The machines have been in place for a long time now, but the chip reader function has not been activated until now. This should make spending your money at Disney a little easier, and more secure, just in time for holiday shopping!

  • I always thought the idea behind the chip was that it would be required for all transactions, instead of being an add-on to cards that still include the stripe. This does sound better in terms of convenience. However, the real security benefit would be just getting rid of the magnetic stripe altogether and it looks like that isn’t happening.
