Disney Cruise Line: What is a Pirate-Themed Makeover?

If you’re thinking of taking a Disney Cruise on a Caribbean or Bahamas itinerary, you’ll need to get your swashbuckling plans in place. Most cruises sailing to the Caribbean or the Bahamas will have a Pirate Night and just a bit of prep will have you ready to pillage. For all of the details on Pirate Night, check out this very handy post.

When Is Pirate Night?

The Disney Cruise Line Navigator App

A few weeks before your cruise, you’ll be able to book activities under your reservation on the Disney Cruise Line Navigator App. You can see which night the Pirate Party is taking place by looking at the “My Plans” section of the app.

  1. Locate My Plans at the bottom of the app.
  2. Select Onboard Fun for your first Caribbean or Bahamas port day.
  3. Scroll until you see the “Pirate-Themed Makeover Appointment Time” as pictured above. This makeover will only be offered on a day with Pirate Night. If you don’t see this populate, then change the date in the upper right corner of the app until you do. This may be necessary for folks with multiple stops or a double-dip at a single island.
  4. You’ll pay when you show up for your appointment and pick your package – not when you book.
  5. Remember, all guests ages 3 and up are welcome to book a Pirate-themed makeover

Pirate-themed makeover price list from July 2024.

Just like its sparkly sibling, the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, you can go in to your appointment planning to only spend the base price but you may walk out a few hundred dollars down. The Pirate Makeup and Accessories package, which we confirmed today is still $59.95, comes with makeup application, a cinch bag, coin necklace, bandana, eye patch, earrings, and sword. As you can see from the menu above, you’ll have to reach into your coin pouch for $40 more if you want that precious shoulder parrot. A swift look around may also have you shelling out even more if your little pirate wants the full outfit.

The booking information states that this makeover is only 30 minutes and we can confirm that was true for us. The major time savings here is that the “hair” component entails a bandana and eye patch rather than lots of hair spray, glitter, and buns like you’ll see at the Bibbidi Bobbidi. The eye makeup our pirate picked was smoky and fast. Before we knew it, the pirates pledge was recited and the shoulder parrot was affixed.

Pirate Party

Fear not if your budget doesn’t allow for multiple (or any) Pirate-themed makeovers onboard. Everyone in your stateroom will receive a pirate handkerchief on the morning of this fun event. The merch locations onboard sell pirate gear, and many folks will simply be in their regular cruise togs so don’t feel pressured to spend money to “fit in” on Pirate Night. Partying in pastels or a full Captain Barbossa fit – you’re sure to blend in.

What say you? Does this seem like a good value?
