We are counting down the days until we can once again step into the Disneyland theme parks again, which is slated to happen in April. But with the reopening, much like with Walt Disney World’s reopening, there will be a number of changes that will take place.

In order to welcome Guests back to the resort, a park reservation system will be introduced, much like the one at Walt Disney World The new park reservation system will managing attendance requiring all Guests, including Annual Passholders, to obtain a reservation for park entry in advance. Theme park reservations will be subject to availability and more details on how this system will work will be released soon. (Though I suspect it will be similar to the one used at Walt Disney World.) Also, for those who are looking to purchase tickets, at this time, new ticket sales have been temporarily paused, as have Annual Passport sales and renewals. (Remember, they are reworking the Annual Passport system and details on that will be released at a later date too.)

When the parks do reopen, both FASTPASS and Disney MaxPass services will be suspended for the time being and will not available for purchase or use. In addition, Magic Morning and Extra Magic Hour offerings will be suspended upon reopening of the Disneyland Resort hotels capacity is managed.

Of course, anything that draws a large crowd won’t be able to occur, so select attractions and certain experiences including things like parades and nighttime spectaculars will not take place. These will return at a later date. There also won’t be character meet and greets, but much like at Walt Disney World, characters will be found in the parks in new ways.

There will be other capacity measures put in place, as well as limitations on parking and operating hours.

We will make sure to share more details and additional measures and procedures as they are announced closer to the opening date.
