Disneyland Royal Street Veranda Review
Royal Street Veranda is a quick service restaurant in the New Orleans Square area of Disneyland in Anaheim, California. For decades it was home to Disneyland’s famous bread bowls served with soup inside, but now the menu has been completely revamped. Today we’ll take a look at the new menu and share our thoughts.
Disneyland’s 70th birthday has brought new food items to almost every restaurant in the park and Royal Street Veranda is no different. For years one of the parks most popular entrees has been the Monte Cristo sandwich from Blue Bayou and Cafe Orleans. Now at Royal Street Veranda you can get Snack Size Monte Cristo for $11.49. It’s filled with ham, turkey and swiss cheese, and dusted with mardi gras powdered sugar and served with a side of jam. If you’re a fan of the original then you’ll love this slightly smaller version.
On the side you can get Baked Cheesy Biscuits, which are cheesy biscuits with sharp cheddar and cajun cheese, brushed with garlic butter. These are similar to the cheddar bay biscuits served at Red Lobster. Disneyland’s version is pretty good, but a bit pricy at $8.99 for three biscuits. A side of cajun cheese sauce can be purchased for an extra $1.39.
For dessert there’s the New Orleans-inspired Sno-Ball for $7.49. I don’t recall the last time Disneyland had shaved ice at any of its restaurants, so this is a nice little addition to the park. You can choose two flavors from a list of six. Including mango, strawberry, pineapple, lemon-lime, coconut, and cherry. This is a great treat on a hot day.
Listed on the physical menu at the restaurant but not currently available for sale is the Cajun Chicken Salad Sandwich for $12.99. I hope they do end up selling this again at some point because it was delicious. It’s got slightly spicy and not-too-creamy chicken salad and topped with crispy onion.
The former Port Royal shop next door has been converted into a much needed seating area. They did a good job at rethemeing the space into a jazz club.
Royal Street Veranda is located in New Orleans Square, to the right of the entrance of Pirates of the Caribbean. It’s a small location, with just one window for ordering and picking up food via a stand-by line, and one for mobile order pickups. There is a microscopic seating area located in front of it, but don’t even bother waiting for a seat here. There’s never any open. Instead grab your food and walk over to Rancho Del Zocalo in Frontierland.
The menu at Royal Street Veranda is limited in size but it’s packed with some crowd pleasing items. Also, all the items are unique to this location so it’s a nice change from the usual Disneyland quick service menus.
