Double Rope Drop Testing in the Magic Kingdom
Magic Kingdom has two rope drops each day. The first is Early Entry rope drop for Disney Resort guests who have access to Tomorrowland and Fantasyland 30 minutes before non-resort guests. The second rope drop is when the rest of the park, Adventureland, Frontierland, and Liberty Square, open to everyone. We tested the double rope drop today and were able to ride 4 attractions by 9:30 am without buying any Lightning Lanes. Scroll all the way down for a link to our video summary from today.

The forecasted Crowd Level for the Magic Kingdom was low today ~ just a 2. As a reminder, when you’re planning a Disney World visit, TouringPlans Subscribers (Liners) have access to our 365-day rolling Crowd Calendar. If you’re able to rope drop early entry, we wouldn’t recommend buying Lightning Lanes for low crowd days like today.
- Lightning Lane Multi Pass for the Magic Kingdom was $32 + tax per person today, $34.08
- Lightning Lane Single Pass for Seven Dwarfs Mine Train was $13 + tax per person today, $13.85
- Total for LLMP and LLSP per person was $47.93

7:18am: Boarded the first Ferryboat from the TTC to the Magic Kingdom.
7:30am: Monorail, Disney Resort bus, and Ferryboat guests were allowed to move toward the Main Gate tapstiles. We secured a spot one party back from the taps as you can see in the image above.
7:46am: Gates opened for all guests. Early Entry was from 8:30am to 9:00am today.
8:04am: Scanned in for Early Entry and headed to Seven Dwarfs Mine Train as directed by our Touring Plan.
8:06am: Cast Members were moving guests into the Seven Dwarfs queue.
8:09am: Seven Dwarfs queue was held, guests not loading onto trains yet.
8:21am: Nine minutes before Early Entry officially started, guests were boarding trains.
8:22am: Stopped timer, 57 second wait to board Seven Dwarfs

Our tester optimized the Touring Plan after exiting Seven Dwarfs and was directed to Peter Pan.
8:34am: Guests were lined up for the “2nd rope drop” into Liberty Square.

8:52am: Boarded Peter Pan after a 24 minute wait.

8:55am: All lands of the Magic Kingdom opened to all guests. Our second rope drop of the day began.
Haunted Mansion, Big Thunder Mountain, and Tiana’s Bayou did not open at 9:00am. Our Touring Plan originally had us moving toward Big Thunder at 9:00am, regular opening, but we optimized after disembarking Peter Pan and were directed to Jungle Cruise instead.
9:01am: Entered queue for Jungle Cruise in Adventureland.
9:06am: Boarded our Cruise to Schweitzer Falls with an actual wait of 5 minutes.

9:21am: Boarded Pirates of the Caribbean with a 2 minute actual wait.

We optimized after Pirates of the Caribbean and noted that Tiana’s Bayou and Big Thunder were back online but Haunted Mansion was not.
