I was in Epcot last week for opening day of the 2020 Festival of the Arts, with Christina, Chef Todd, and some friends, as we checked out all of the new food booths and artists. We stopped in Germany for the Red Wine-Braised Beef Short Rib, the Seared Corvina, and the Caramel Cream Tart with Caramel Glaze topped with Cream Puffs. They were all delicious, and I recommend them wholeheartedly. But the best thing about that meal was the new band at Germany, Lebendig, who played their first set while we ate. In my opinion, they’re the must-see band at Epcot for Festival of the Arts.
Lebendig means either “lively” or “living” in German, and there’s truth in that name. This four-piece rock band plays original songs with a lot of energy and they sound great. Do I have any idea what their lyrics say? Absolutely not. (That doesn’t stop me from loving 99 Luftballons either.) So what? They’re young kids, they seem sincere, they’re trying hard, and they’re an actual rock band, with a guitar, a bass, and drums. Plus, their music has apparently won some awards back in Germany.

If you can translate some of those lyrics, post them in the comments below. And when you’re in Epcot, grab some food and a beer, and see one of Lebendig’s 20-minute sets. I think they play six or seven sets a day, around 15 minutes after the hour, starting around noon.
