Everything You Need to Know About Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor

You’re going on vacation to Walt Disney World! The only problem? You’re not sure which attractions are right for you and your kiddos and you have questions. Which attractions are too intense for little ones? What rides do I really need a FastPass+ reservation for? What’s the disability access like for certain attractions? We’re answering all those questions and more in our Everything You Need to Know attraction series with today’s focus on the Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor at the Magic Kingdom!

What is Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor?

The Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor is a comedy show geared towards kids and families where Mike Wazowski from Monsters, Inc. and Monsters University and other monster comedians tell jokes and interact with the audience.

Where is Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor?

Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor is located next to Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin in Tomorrowland at the Magic Kingdom.

What is the History of Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor?

Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor opened to guests on April 2, 2007, but it was far from the first attraction to call this corner of Tomorrowland home. Before the monsters from Monstropolis moved in, several Circle-Vision 360 degree shows ran in this space beginning with the Magic Carpet Round the World in 1971 and ending with The Timekeeper which ran from 1994 to 2006.

What You Need to Know About the Queue

Upon entering the building, guests pass through standard switchbacks with banners encouraging guests to send in their own jokes via text and that the jokes may be used in the show. Guests then pass through a door to enter the Monster World and into a holding room for the show. Be sure to notice the Monster-themed vending machine, bulletin board, and other fun details while you wait!

What You Need to Know About the Experience

Since the monsters discovered laughter provides more power than screams, Mike Wazowski has opened a comedy club and needs the audience’s help to fill up canisters of laughter. Mike emcees the club’s three comedy acts with occasional interruptions from Roz. Each act has an animated monster who tells jokes and interacts with guests to often hilarious results.

It’s important to note Mike and the monsters are animated and appear on a screen. It’s through Disney magic (and technology) that the monsters seen on screen can interact with live guests in the audience.

The show is great for all ages and members of the family. The jokes are suited to kids, but the witty Cast Members voicing the monsters and interactions are sure to amuse adults as well.

What You Need to Know About the Theater

The Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor theater holds several hundred people and truly looks like it belongs in Monstropolis! Guests sit on long, hard plastic benches with a back and a surprising amount of space.

What You Need to Know About Accessibility

Wheelchair and ECV users may ride directly into the theater due to the spacious theater and seating arrangements. Wheelchair seating is near the center of the room.

What You Need to Know About Health and Safety Warnings

Due to the nature of the show, there are no health or safety warnings! However, I would warn those who prefer not to be on camera or who fear being put on the spot in a crowd to consider skipping this show.

What are the Height Requirements?

There are no height requirements for Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor!

Does Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor Offer FastPass+

Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor offers FastPass+. However, like most shows, it’s far from the best use of a FastPass+.

Does Weather Affect Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor?

Since this an indoor attraction, inclement weather will not impact Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor.

What’s the Best Time of Day to Experience Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor?

The theater holds several hundred people, so there’s no need to rush here first thing in the morning. Try to arrive late in the morning after you’ve visited other Tomorrowland attractions, or after the afternoon parade when guests start leaving the park.

This chart shows you roughly how long you’ll wait for Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor when you visit on a day with a given Magic Kingdom Crowd Level. The blue bars represent the average “peak” wait time (that is, how long the line will be at its busiest). The bottom and top black lines represent the range of peak wait times to expect (for you fellow nerds out there: it’s the 5th percentile and 95th percentile of peak wait times). Please note that these are estimates, and for a better forecast for your travel dates, see Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor Wait Times.

  • This is a *must do* every trip! It’s so clever and fun~ a nice respite from the FL sun/ rain. I don’t know if this is common, but I’d say 50%+ of the shows we’ve been to, a family member has been “a part of the show.” I Should say, we do go 1-2 times per year. Always good for a laugh! Kiddos LOVE texting their jokes- which have been “in the show” as well. Well done, MK!!
