March 2019 Crowd Calendar Update
The next update to the Crowd Calendar will be published on Sunday, March 3. We are reviewing the impact of Disney After Hours on crowd patterns at the parks and assessing how the volatility of wait times so far in 2019 is impacting our predictions going forward.
When a park closes early to host a Disney After Hours event, that makes it different from a similar day in years past. However, it is unlikely that the earlier hour of official park close is an indication that crowds will be lighter than normal. We want to make sure our forecasts don’t predict a lower crowd than is likely.
The record level of wait time volatility at Animal Kingdom continues. We are reviewing how those wait times might be impacting our forecasts.
In addition, each property has major change that will be reflected on this update.
- Disney Hollywood Studios will see reduced capacity at Tower of Terror starting in mid-May and extending through September
- Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge opens at Disneyland Park in June
- Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure opens on June 13 at Universal’s Islands of Adventure Park
Crowd Calendars for Walt Disney World, Disneyland, and Universal Orlando will all be updated.

Why will there be reduced capacity on Tower of Terror through the summer?
Disney is planning a refurbishment on Tower of Terror sometime in Spring/Summer. It will be operational, but at a reduced capacity during refurbishment.
