New Unofficial Guide Disney Dish with Jim Hill Podcast – Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort

The latest Unofficial Guide podcast with Jim Hill is available on iTunes (MP3 here). In this episode, Jim and I are on location at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort. Jim recounts how Disney came up with the idea for Fort Wilderness, and the things Disney’s construction crew had to endure while carving this camp out of the ground. Jim also talks about the beginnings of the Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue.

Along the way you’ll hear sounds from the campground including background music, buses, maintenance and, well, people camping. We end the podcast by walking the trail from Fort Wilderness to Wilderness Lodge, and Jim talks about how the success of Fort Wilderness led to the construction of Disney’s Wilderness Lodge.

Upcoming episodes have already been recorded for the Wilderness Lodge and Disney World’s water parks. Jim and I will be headed to Disneyland in a few days to cover those parks, and possibly more.

Don’t forget to leave feedback on iTunes. Thanks for listening!

  • Hey Len, we came up with a drinking game where we take a shot each time the word “literally” is used. Weelllll…. needless to say, we all passed out 25 minutes into the podcast and had to listen to the rest of it the next day. We added a rule that if the word is used correctly, then we will stop drinking. However, that rule has yet to come into effect. I know I give you a hard time, but I do appreciate the podcasts.

  • Great podcast. Loved the parts about the train and River Country.

Have you considered doing an episode of the more minor things on property? I could imagine you guys driving around commenting on the ESPN Wide World of Sports, Richard Petty, there might be a story about the McDonald’s on property, etc.

    • Liz, use the link that says “mp3 here” and you can download a file that can be played on any Windows or Mac computer.

PS: You can also install iTunes on a Windows PC if you want, but I like just downloading the file this way.
