PHOTOS: Epcot Construction Update Including More Walls and a New Walkway
The major overhaul of Epcot continues throughout 2020, and even though the International Festival of the Arts is in full swing, so is the ongoing construction. The front entrance of Epcot is under a major remodel as the Leave A Legacy Monument has been removed and is said to be relocated in the future. When riding the monorail and departing Epcot, you can see to the left an area of construction. It is unclear if this is just for more front entrance enhancement or the relocation of Leave A Legacy.
As you approach the iconic Spaceship Earth sphere you are redirected to go to the right as the left-hand pathway continues to be blocked. With winter crowds this isn’t so bad, but when the park gets busier it can cause this area to feel a little cramped. Thankfully, Goofy was nearby to help add a little magic.
Continuing along the right hand, or the West side of the park, you will notice that the skeleton of Club Cool and Starbucks Fountain View are now gone. This creates a view that I do not believe has existed before in that the Canada Pavilion is now visible from the part of the park.
On the other side of the courtyard, and heading to the East side of the park, you can see the former location of MouseGear is walled off and construction is in full swing.
Construction walls around the forthcoming Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind coaster have received a themed look. This side of the park is getting a lot of love at the moment with Space 220 restaurant and the Play Pavilion being constructed, while Test Track is under refurbishment. In other words, this side of the park is a little rough right now.
From this East side of the park and heading toward the center, one of the construction walls has become a paint-by-number mural as part of the Arts Festival. That is something that makes the festival even more fun this year–the use of construction walls as part of the festivities.
Finally, heading over to the West side of the park, more construction walls and fences appear. Innoventions West is walled off, but a new walkway connecting The Seas With Nemo and Friends to Spaceship Earth has opened. This walkway provides a vantage point of the park and monorail previously only seen from backstage.
Have you been to Epcot lately? How has the construction impacted your visit?
Thanks for the reply! We’ll keep it in the Agenda! 🙂
That depends on how much you mind construction walls. If you go to Epcot this summer, Spaceship Earth will probably be closed for its major rehab (start date yet to be announced), but all other attractions are unaffected by the construction. The pathways are a little weird and the construction is ugly, but aside from chugging soda samples at Club Cool, all the things you would normally “do” at Epcot are still there and ready to be done.
Should I skip Epcot this summer?
