Universal Translator – What is a Lanyard?

There are so many lanyards at Universal it feels like you’re at a music festival or on a college campus during freshman orientation. This Universal Translator looks at lanyards at the Universal parks.

Universal sells dozens of lanyards that hold your credentials in a plastic pouch. Most folks place their admission ticket and Express Pass in the lanyard pouch for quick scanning – I tend to place my Annual Pass and Rush of Fear tickets there. Lanyards range from boring Universal Studios blue to lanyards based on hit franchises or seasonal events. Lanyards are found all over the parks, your best selections will be located in CityWalk’s Universal Studios Store and the kiosk located outside.

Translation complete. Stay tuned next week for another edition of Universal Translator!

  • I have a question about the lanyard pouch size. I have your Universal Orlando 2025 book and it says you can buy one at an office store. But what size? The online versions at Universal are 4 1/8″x3 1/2″ but the office store or cruise ship style on Amazon are 2.64″x4.4″. Will that size work for the room key and Universal Express Pass? I don’t want to buy one that will be too small. Can you please confirm what size is needed or where I can buy the right size (but a lot less than the $9 each for the pouch alone at Universal)? My trip is about 6 weeks out. Thanks!
