Walt Disney World Ticket Pricing Breakdown
Yesterday, I shared with you that Walt Disney World tickets will be increasing beginning today. In addition, to that, there were a few other changes that occurred as well that include:
- Pricing that includes a range of options
- All new tickets will have an expiration date that the ticket must be used by. (Previously, only one day tickets expired.) This means that unused tickets must be used by a certain date or they will expire. (Example, right now, tickets purchased today must be used by December 31, 2018.) Anyone who holds an expired ticket will be able to exchange it for a credit that can be used towards purchasing a new ticket of equal or greater value. Unused tickets that have been purchased prior to Sunday, February 12 will remain valid and not carry expiration dates.
- Guests can receive a $20 discount on any 3-Day to 10-Day Magic Your Way Ticket purchased in advance through Disney.
- The Water Park Fun & More and Park Hopper Ticket will now be called Park Hopper Plus. Water Park Fun & More will be discontinued by itself. The Park Hopper Plus will include the ability to visit more than two parks in a day, as well as a certain number of visits to your choice of Blizzard Beach, Typhoon Lagoon, Disney’s Oak Trail Golf Course, Fantasia Gardens Mini-Golf Course, Winter Summerland Mini-Golf Course, or ESPN Wide World of Sports.
Last year, Disney introduced seasonal pricing at Walt Disney World. That will continue this year for one day tickets. With the seasonal pricing, each month is divided to include value, regular, and peak days. You would pay Value Season pricing if you visited in September, but if you visit in December during the week between Christmas and New Year’s, you will pay Peak Pricing. Those who purchase multi-day tickets or are purchasing an annual pass do not currently see seasonal pricing.

Park Hopper Plus: Allows Guests the ability to enter more than one theme park each day and allows Guests a specific number of visits (between 2 and 10, depending on the number of days of your ticket) to the Disney Water Parks, Disney’s Oak Trail golf course, ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex, Disney’s Fantasia Gardens and Fairways Miniature Golf, and Disney’s Winter Summerland Miniature Golf.

As a reminder, if you purchase your tickets at a Walt Disney World ticket window or at Guest Relations, your Base Ticket price will be $20 more expensive.
Once tickets are used at the gate, they will expire after 14 days after the initial use.

Water Park Annual Pass – $125 (ages 3 and up)
With this pass you get:
- one year of admission to Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park and Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park
Speaking of Disney Water Parks, Guests can choose a 1 day water park ticket. These tickets are valid through December 31, 2018.
- 1 Day Water Park Ticket Adults (ages 10 and up) – $62.00
- 1 Day Water Park Ticket Children (ages 3-9) – $56.00
There is also a seasonal water park ticket at the Walt Disney World resort. Seasonal tickets are not valid for admission during the summer with blockout dates for 2017 from May 27 – August 27. These tickets are valid through December 31, 2018.
- Seasonal Water Park 1 Day Ticket Adults (ages 10 and up) – $57.00
- Seasonal Water Park 1 Day Ticket Children (ages 3-9) – $51.00

Just curious when this went (goes?) into effect. I package I priced in January is still the same price today. I rushed and booked our early December trip Saturday (2/11) night thinking it would cost more money on Sunday. Checking again Sunday, and today, its still the same price. Did this not apply to tickets in packages? Or is the increase negated by this $20 advanced online ticket purchase discount?
Universal annual pass cheaper then 5 days at Disney, Bye Bye Money Vultures!
We were planning our next Disney trip – trying to decide between going in September or December. Well, Disney made our decision for us! We aren’t going back. The greed is out of control. They make billions of dollars every quarter, and yet, they continue with this nonsense. We’ve been going for almost 10 years and even took our 1 year old last year. Looking forward to heading to Universal this year – it’s been a few years and there’s LOTS of new things to see.
So, Disney continues to stick their proverbial finger into the eye of it’s loyal fan base, just daring them to say “enough”.

Just as the runDisney brand Fid with their races, the theme park division has overestimated the bounds of my loyalty. I don’t have a problem with Disney assuming that people are so enamored with the declining value of their products, but I am simply no longer in that group.
It’s been a fun ride, Disney. I thought I knew you.
I agree with you. Enough is enough. So we will head to Universal this year instead.
Did annual passes go up and could you upgrade from 8 day pass that I already have to annual pass and pay the difference of the new prices or do they go by what you bought them at. Do you get a hotel discount with annual passes. I thought you did in the past
So the Park Hopper plus will be considerably cheaper than purchasing both Park Hopper and Water Park Fun option in the current pricing system correct?
Rikki, the $20.00 discount on tickets purchase ahead of time only applies to tickets purchased as part of a package.
Correction, you’ll get an additional discount, if purchased with a package.
I also noticed that there is the same $20 increase from 4 day to 7 day instead of it gradually becoming less and less to add a day. That to me is perhaps the most frustrating aspect of this price increase. I expected a bump in price, but now they’re also taking value away from adding days to the ticket. It doesn’t come down until you go from 7 days to 8 days, and then is the same $10 increase to 9 and 10 days. Oh well, we’re still going next January, touché Disney!
The 4-7 day ticket upgrade used to be $15 and is now $20. The 8+ stayed at $10. The pricing structure is the same, but the prices changed. The biggest jump was in the cost to upgrade to a 4 day ticket. It used to be $35 to upgrade from a 3 day to a 4 day ticket. Now it is $61!
So do multi-day ticket still expire 14 days after first use or are they good now for sporadic use until the expiration date in the future? Which would allow a multi-day ticket the last over a number of different trips.
Also are the Florida residents and DVD annual passes still available?
Multi day tickets do still expire after 14 days after initial use. The change is now unused tickets will have an expiration date going forward when previously they did not. You could previously purchase an unused ticket and keep it forever. Anyone who purchased a ticket prior to today will be grandfathered in and those tickets will not ever expire, until they are used at the ticket gate. I hope that makes sense.
Also, Florida resident rates and DVC annual passes are still available. Check the Disney website for full pricing for those two types of tickets.
Can you direct me to where on the Disney site it talks about using expired tickets as credit towards future purchase? I could not find it this morning. Is it completely unused tickets only or does it include partially used ticets?
