The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights may get all the publicity, but one of my favorite parts of the holidays at Disney’s Hollywood Studios is the chance to reunite with performers from the former Pleasure Island. The 2015 Comedy Warehouse Holiday Special is now playing for a limited run in DHS’s Premier Theater, once again rekindling the Yule Log of improv comedy at Walt Disney World.

A tribute to the popular comedy club that once anchored Downtown Disney’s Pleasure Island in the days before Disney Springs, the 2015 Comedy Warehouse Holiday Special brings a half dozen of the beloved venue’s veterans together for half-hour shows of skillfully improvised skits and seasonal songs.

The 2015 Comedy Warehouse Holiday Special is currently being performed six times daily inside the Premier Theater, which is located near the exit to MuppetVision. FastPass+ is offered for the show, but was sold out more than a day before my visit. However, I joined the standby queue about 20 minutes before the last scheduled show of the day, and easily secured an excellent seat.

If you’ve never had the pleasure of seeing the Comedy Warehouse Holiday Special, or simply won’t get a chance to see it this season, here’s a full performance I recorded on December 21, 2015. Don’t worry about spoiling any surprises if you are planning to see it; since audience suggestions are the building blocks of every scene, it’s never the same show twice!

If you are lucky enough to attend the Comedy Warehouse Holiday Special in person, be sure to take a close look at the stage decoration, which is stuffed with seasonal jokes and goofy sight gags.

It should be noted that although this is a family friendly show, as audiences are warned before they shout ideas to the actors, the humor can sometimes be a bit risqué; I’m pretty certain the 2015 Comedy Warehouse Holiday Special is the first time I’ve seen a drag queen on stage in a Walt Disney World show:

Improv comedy acts can be found in nearly every city now, but what makes the Comedy Warehouse Holiday Special so special is the quality of the performers, many of whom have decades of experience in both the theme parks and professional theater. For example, Mary Thompson Hunt was heard for many years in countless Walt Disney World voiceover announcements, and Philip Nolen is a frequent star at Orlando Shakespeare Theatre and Mad Cow Theatre.

Nothing this sweet can last forever, and the 2015 Comedy Warehouse Holiday Special will melt away again after January 4, 2016 as the peak crowds depart. Catch it while you can!
