Teacher Discounts for Orlando Vacations

Happy Teacher Appreciation Week to all the teachers out there. We’re so thankful for all you do each and every day to help raise up the next generation. What better way to celebrate than a Disney vacation?

Unfortunately for teachers, being able to travel during the slower times of the year isn’t an option, as the best weeks to travel are, no surprise, when kids are in school. And while Walt Disney World itself doesn’t directly offer discounts for teachers, there are some offers out there that can help save money on a Disney vacation for teachers.

For many years, the Swan and Dolphin Resorts at Walt Disney World have offered discounted teacher rates. Even better, the “teacher rate” is also available to other school support staff. The amount of discount and availability varies throughout the year, but you can see more information on how to book a room or join their mailing list for special offers here. Hilton Orlando Bonnet Creek is also offering some amazing rates this summer for teachers, starting at $119/night. Looking further out from the Disney bubble, Marriott often offers discounts for teachers, including at the beautiful Gaylord Palms.

If you’re a member of the National Education Association, you can get a 25% discount on rental cars through Hertz. Enterprise, Alamo, and National also offer discounts for NEA members. Keep in mind, this is off the base price of a car rental, and you might have better luck with something like Autoslash for finding the best rate.

Discounts on theme park tickets are usually some of the most elusive deals to find. If you are part of a teacher’s union, check the list of current union benefits to see if theme park ticket discounts are available, but in general, savings on theme park tickets themselves will be rare.

There is an exception, however, if your trip includes more than just a visit to Walt Disney World. In two of the best deals around, both Sea World and Legoland offer a free annual pass for active Florida teachers. The Legoland pass also offers free admission to some I-Drive attractions, like Sea Life Orlando and Madame Tussauds.

To all the teachers out there, Happy Teacher Appreciation Week!
