Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Merchandise Reveal
When Star Wars came out, George Lucas was given the option of selling the licensing rights for a large fee, or settling for a small percentage on items sold. Wisely, he chose the percentage, and the rest is history. Star Wars merchandise has been its own blockbuster story over the years, and with the upcoming opening of Galaxy’s Edge, you know that merchandise will be flying off the shelves faster than an emergency jump to lightspeed. Here’s just some of what you’ll find for sale throughout this new land.
If I had to bet, I’d wager that Disney is hoping that the Custom Astromech Units are going to be the Galaxy’s Edge version of Banshees–something that you’ll see EVERYONE carrying around with them. This build-your-own collectible will be available in Droid Depot.
And yeah, they are cute. But not really cuddly. However, if you want something cuddly, Disney has you covered.
Pretty adorable, right? Well, some of them, anyhow.
The Toydarian Toymaker stall is probably a place where I may be spending a bit of time, and credits. I’m especially intrigued that they’ll have wood and tin toys in addition to plush.
Forget spirit jerseys–merchandise here will range into some pretty high-end wardrobe pieces for those wishing to join the First Order…
…Or any other part of the Star Wars universe.
Over at Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities, a variety of “relics” will be available for purchase for the “discriminating Star Wars fan”.
I must admit, that panel relief in the back is something I could see above my desk.
But if there’s one item I’m really, really curious about, it’s the holocron crystals. Details are a bit light (hah!) about these beauties right now, but in addition to looking awesome, kyber crystals can be used on them to lock additional content. What does that mean exactly? Strong am I with the Force… but not that strong. Looks like I’ll be waiting with everyone to find out more details.
Which of these items do you think you’ll be bringing back from your run to Batuu? Let us know in the comments.
The “details are a bit light” pun was awful! Fortunately the rest of the article was excellent. I want a Stormtrooper plush.
I want a storm trooper and Vader plush for my dog. (The cats already have storm trooper and Vader cat toys)
