First View of Epcot’s Guardians of the Galaxy Attraction Vehicle
While we’re still going to have to wait a while to ride the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy attraction at Epcot, we do have concept art of what the ride vehicles will look like.
According to Disney, the ride system and ride vehicles will be unlike anything Guests of Disney parks will have experienced before. The attraction will be a one-of-a-kind storytelling coaster that connects the adventure of a storyline with the thrills of a coaster.
According to Bob Chapek, Disney Parks, Experiences and Consumer Products Chairman, “On most coasters, the vehicles point straight ahead throughout the ride,” Bob explained. “But on this attraction, each individual cab will be programmed to direct your eye to the story happening around you. That means instead of whizzing by the action, you’ll be fully immersed in the story from the minute you launch.”
As a reminder, the attraction will be an indoor roller coaster that is geared for the family and will feature at least part of its footprint on the former location of Universe of Energy.
The Guardians of the Galaxy-inspired coaster is part of the company’s ongoing work to transform Epcot into a place that’s more family, more relevant, more timeless and more Disney.
The Guardians of the Galaxy attraction will open in time for the 50th anniversary of Walt Disney World Resort in 2021.
To paraphrase Hollywood Studios and apply to Epcot: “A place that always was, but never will be.”
Sorry, one more then I’m done.
I thought Epcot wasn’t enough Walt Disney, but I now realize it was all the Disney it was going to be, and never will be again.
” transform Epcot into a place that’s more … Disney”
No Walt Disney at all. Just The Disney Company.
#Sad
But we’ll probably still ride it. We paid for it, after all.
That vehicle should also come in handy if the Guardians of the Galaxy ever have to escape from Gringott’s bank.
You beat me to it, though I’ll add that the paint job will blend well with the Transformers ride.
