UPDATES: Disney Cruise Line Announces Details About Its Newest Ship, The Disney Treasure
Disney Cruise Line is out with loads of information about the newest addition to the fleet, The Disney Treasure. The Treasure will be the sixth Disney vessel, joining the Magic, Wonder, Dream, Fantasy, and Wish. The Treasure will begin sailing in December 2024.
The Disney Treasure will set sail December 21, 2024 with 7-Night Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries from Port Canaveral, Florida. Castaway Club members can book starting on September 12, 2023 and the public on September 20, 2023. See below for exact dates, based on your Castaway Club status.
Previously announced information about the Treasure included details about the general theming of “Adventure,” with a lobby atrium statue of Jasmine and Aladdin riding on the Magic Carpet and a stern embellished with figures of Peter Pan and Captain Hook.
Much of the Treasure announcement appears to have been filmed on the Wish confirming that the Treasure will have the same layout as her slightly older sister. Indeed, with the exception of decor changes and alternate themes for one restaurant and a few bars and cafes, the Treasure is substantially similar to the Wish.
Grand Hall
The artist’s rendering of the Grand Hall featured rich, dark-blue carpet, a side stage, and a stairway and slide down to kids’ clubs. The center light fixture is a golden lamp with Middle Eastern influences. Aside from decor updates, this appears to be the same layout as the Wish.
Restaurants
The three rotational dining restaurants have now been announced. Two of the restaurants are duplicates of dining venues on the Wish: Worlds of Marvel and 1923.
At World of Marvel, there was mention of an Ant Man and Wasp storyline, as on the Wish, but also a reference to a new Marvel Dining Experience coming. The 1923 restaurant celebrates the original Walt Disney Studios.
The third announced main dining room is the Plaza de Coco restaurant, is a new concept based on the film Coco. Dinner will include performances by a live Mariachi band. There will be two distinct shows: On your first night, watch as Miguel and the town mariachis entertain with lively song and dance. Then, on the second night, behold the plaza’s transformation to a fun-filled Dia de Los Muertos celebration with Mamá Coco, Abuelita and the rest of the Rivera family.
As on the Wish, the main pool deck buffet restaurant will be called Marceline Market. And the quick service pool deck venues will be Mickey’s Smokestack BBQ, Donald’s Cantina, Daisy’s Pizza Pies, Goofy’s Grill and Minnie’s Delights, also as on the Wish.
Adult dining venues onboard will be the familiar PALO Steakhouse and Enchante.
The pool deck treats shop will be called Jumbeaux’s Sweets, themed to the film Zootopia.
Bars and Cafes
Skipper Society, located near the grand hall will have a Jungle Cruise theme. The servers here will definitely be serving up some corny jokes along with the drinks.
The Periscope Pub will be themed to the film and ride 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. While sipping craft brews or specialty drinks, look through the “glass” ceiling to the watery world above. Or stay up to date with what’s happening on land with the surrounding “scientific” monitors displaying news and live sports coverage.
Serabi, named for the lioness matriarch in The Lion King, is two-tier venue (like Luna on Wish) where there will be games, smaller shows and performances (and presumably Bingo) and a small bar.
The Rose will connect the PALO Steakhouse and Enchante restaurants and will be themed to the Enchanted Castle of Beauty and the Beast, as is The Rose on the Wish.
The Heihei Cafe, named for Moana’s sidekick chicken, will have furniture styled with construction techniques used by the Polynesian people to craft sea vessels. Jade Cricket Cafe, named for Mulan’s sidekick cricket, will have plum blossom decor with metallic counters reminiscent of Mulan’s armor. Both will serve coffees, teas, and snacks.
UPDATE 10/24/23: There’s going to be a bar themed after the Haunted Mansion! There was too much news about the Haunted Mansion Parlor to fit in this article; you can read the announcement here: Haunted Mansion Bar Coming to the Disney Treasure.
Kids Clubs
The Treasure Kids’ Clubs appear to be substantially similar to those on the Wish. Themed areas will include Marvel Superhero Academy, the Imagineering Lab, Fairytale Hall, Mickey & Minnie’s Captain’s Deck, and Star Wars Cargo Bay.
Vibe and Edge also seem to be similar to those spaces on the Wish and it’s a small world nursery is available for tiny tot babysitting.
Live Shows and Movies and Other Entertainment
DCL announced that the Walt Disney Theater will feature a Beauty and the Beast stage show, as is currently running on the Dream. The Treasure stage will also feature performances of Disney Seas the Adventure, which is now showing on the Wish.
UPDATE 10/10/23: The third Broadway-style show slated to run on the Treasure will be Disney The Tale of Moana. According to the Disney Parks blog, the show “will follow Moana as she embarks on an incredible journey to save her island after she is chosen by the ocean to restore the heart of Te Fiti. Fans of the original film will recognize many beloved characters like Gramma Tala, Maui and Tamatoa when they appear on stage, as well as songs from the film’s iconic soundtrack.”
UPDATE 1/12/24: Disney has announced additional information about the Moana-themed show that will appear on the Treasure. The show will rely on puppetry for some characters. Songs will include phrases in a variety of Pacific languages, including Tuvaluan, Tokelauan, and Samoan. Additionally, the entire theater will be incorporated into the production, with twinkling stars and the inclusion of a glowing manta ray soaring above the auditorium.
Movies will be shown in two theaters: the Wonderland and Never Land Cinemas.
Pirate Night celebrations will include the Pirate’s Rockin’ Parlay Party, featuring fireworks and live rock music.
Pool Area
The Treasure will be home to 10 separate pools, plus water play areas. The Slide-a-saurus Rex is a family water slide and the Toy Story Splash Zone is a water play area especially for the youngest cruisers.
Like the Wish, the Treasure will feature an AquaMouse coaster-style slide around the ship, accompanied by video. The Treasure’s version will have a new film – The Temple of the Golden Egg.
Staterooms
Stateroom layouts appear to be similar to those on the Wish.
As on all the Disney ships, concierge rooms come with lounge access. There will be four Royal Suites as well as the Tomorrow Tower Suite – inspired by EPCOT and the possibilities of tomorrow.
Spa Area
Senses Spa will offer beauty and spa treatments, including DCL’s popular Rainforest. Untangled Salon offers manicures, pedicures, and hairstyling services. Hook’s Barbery will offer shaves and haircuts, alongside a full bar with specialty whiskies.
Adult Area
The Quiet Cove features an infinity pool, bar, and poolside lounge.
Play Area
The Treasure will include a Hero Zone, home to large motor play such as basketball, chip-it golf, a large bounce-house-style obstacle course, and the ever popular Diaper Dash.
