10 Reasons I Love Concierge on Disney Cruise Line

I’m a huge Disney Cruise Line Concierge fan. While I’m happy to be onboard no matter what type of stateroom I’m in, when I can swing it financially (usually by splitting it with friends), I don’t hesitate to book concierge. Here are 10 reasons why.

1. Early Bookings – The biggest benefit to concierge before you board will be the early booking. Early bookings mean you get what you want. Cabanas on Lookout Cay and sometimes Castaway Cay can still sell out, but pretty much anything else you want to prebook is not a problem. Mixology, tastings, excursions, Royal Gathering, spa treatments, upcharge dining, etc. Not a problem. You can also request a specific dining rotation and to sit alone. Shoreside Concierge will take care of it.

2. The Concierge Hosts – Crew onboard a Disney cruise is always top-notch. Well, the Concierge Hosts are a whole other level. They are the best at what they do. They will make you feel appreciated and heard. They’re the problem fixers. If you didn’t get one of those activities booked beforehand, they’re going to do everything they can to get it for you onboard.

3. Early Boarding and Special Lunch – The Special treatment begins day 1, and after back-to-back cruisers and the family of the day, you’ll be the first guests onboard. Once onboard, you can choose to go to a sit-down lunch just for concierge guests or get some light bites in the lounge if you like. Wine and beer are also included at that lunch or in the lounge.

4. The Staterooms – There are some absolutely spectacular Concierge Staterooms. The staterooms range from almost identical layouts to non-concierge category 4 staterooms (Deluxe Family Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah) to the four-bedroom Tower Suites. All have upgraded bath products, linens, seating, and include fridges stocked with sodas, juices, and water. There are no bad options here.

5. Small Extras – There are some other small extras, like included Wi-Fi (the amount is based on the level of stateroom) and an exclusive lithograph created by the amazingly talented Don “Ducky” Williams for each stateroom. On the last morning, in your one last bougie benefit, the hosts will walk you downstairs to the front of the line to get off the ship.

6. The Lounge – The lounges vary by ship, but they’re all wonderful. They all have lots of seating, stocked fridges, food, fancy coffee machines, a small buffet of food, a desk where you will find the Concierge Hosts, and a sundeck (although the word “sundeck” is a stretch on the Magic since it’s covered). The Wish-class ships have the newest lounges, and it shows. They are huge spaces with ample seating and have two levels of sundecks. The upper sundeck has two hot tubs, a small splash pool, a bar, and a self-serve smoothie machine with a Dole Whip flavor. The Wish-class ships also have a dedicated kitchen in their lounge, which means hot food. Hot food means fresh Mickey Waffles in the morning, and other small plates throughout the day.

7. In Room Dining – If your stateroom has a dining table (1-Bedrooms and up), you can order food from the main dining rooms into your stateroom. If you are in a Royal Suite or Tower Suite, you can also order Palo, Remy, or Enchante into your stateroom. I love hot breakfast delivered to me in my stateroom.

8. Cocktail Hour – Every evening from 5-10 p.m. is cocktail hour(s) in the lounge. All the drinks are included and unlimited. There are also several non-alcoholic options like mocktails and Cloudem for those teetotalers onboard.

9. Afternoon Tea – Don’t miss afternoon tea. You can get tea all day long, but the scones? The scones are only out from 2:30 to 4. Pro tip – Don’t miss those scones.

10. Concierge Merchandise – Lately, Disney has leaned in to exclusive merchandise for Concierge Guests. In the least shocking news of the day, they have not produced enough to equal the demand. If you find it in stock, there are Lug bags with the concierge key symbol, beach towels, jackets, tumblers, mugs, pins, and more. Grab it if you see it!
