Seen at D23 Expo 2015: Shanghai Disneyland
Hi there, random person on the internet. Can’t be at D23 Expo this year but still want to see the Shanghai Disneyland exhibit in the Walt Disney Parks and Resorts booth? Well you’re in luck because I am at D23 Expo and I happen to have a camera with me. Lets take a look!
Above your head is a screen showing artwork and videos of each of the park’s lands, as well as the resort’s hotels and shopping area.
Shanghai Disneyland doesn’t have a Main Street like the other parks, but it does have something similar called Mickey Avenue. Seen here are the Mickey Avenue cast member costumes.
If you’re a fan of Disney concept art you’ve come to the right place. Theres a ton of it inside the Shanghai Disneyland section of the booth. Here’s some showing what Mickey’s Avenue will look like.
Even obscure Disney characters get some love in Shanghai Disneyland. Here’s a window starting Ludwig Von Drake.
Treasure Cove is the home to the park’s version of Pirates of the Caribbean, but it’s not the classic version of the ride you’re used to. Shanghai’s Pirates ride will be completely based on the film franchise.
Set pieces from Pirates of the Caribbean: Battle of the Sunken Treasure.
Art for the Roaring Rapids attraction.
A model for Shanghai’s Enchanted Storybook Castle.
A boat ride inside the castle will take guests pasts scenes from Disney’s animated movies.
Fantasyland will be home to an Alice in Wonderland ride based on Tim Burton’s film series.
Horses from the park’s carousel. It wouldn’t be Disneyland without a Peter Pan ride. Shanghai Disneyland’s Pan ride will also use a suspended track.
Tomorrowland will be home to Tron Lightcycle Power Run, which I have to admit fills me jealousy. I’m a huge fan of Tron and I never thought Disney would make an attraction based on it.
The Tron Lightcycle Power Run ride cast member costume was on display along with concept art.
Here you can see Tron Lightcycle Power Run unique ride vehicle.
Shanghai Disneyland Hotel is the park’s flagship hotel and it looks like it’ll be very impressive. Here you can see concept art and another cast member costume.
Another looks at Shanghai Disneyland Hotel.
You can’t forget the merchandise and it’s a safe bet the park will have a ton of it. Here’s a sneak peek at some of the new items.
As you can see Disney is planning some very exciting things for their new theme park. Now I’d like to know what you think? Would you travel to Shanghai to visit Shanghai Disneyland? Is there anything planned for the park that you would like to see duplicated in Disneyland or Walt Disney World? Let me know in the comments below.
I need to win the lottery.
