AbracadaBar Now Open at Disney’s BoardWalk
This weekend, the AbracadaBar opened at Disney’s BoardWalk. The cocktail lounge is located next to the soon-to-be-opening Flying Fish (opening in August) and the Italian restaurant Trattoria al Forno.
The lounge itself is not very large, and is available on a first-come, first-serve basis. There is room for Guests to be seated at either couches or tables, whichever they choose.
The magic of the place can be felt throughout, as posters mysteriously change and drinks transform before your eyes. You’ll also find great magician artifacts, as well as other great knick-knacks throughout. (My favorite effect to experience was one right outside the bathrooms which shows what you really look like…with no mirror distortion. It’s kind of shocking, since you’re used to seeing yourself a certain way.)
The cocktail lounge focuses mostly on the art of the beverage, however a popcorn/chickpea mix is offered to patrons.
The story behind the bar’s existence is that this little lounge was a former stomping ground for the famous magicians, boardwalk illusionists, and lovely magician’s assistants of the Golden Age. Their goal was to “conjure” up new cocktails, swap magic tips and tricks. Until, as with all Disney stories…they disappeared.
The bar can get exceptionally busy in the later evening and Guests are welcome to sit outside, however, to me, you lose the feel of the lounge by sitting outside. The charm is all inside.
The AbracadaBar is as magical as its name suggests it would be.
Thanks Rikki – I was hoping from the press leading up to the opening that there might be some character interactions (kind of like Adventurer’s Club). Any indication that something like that might happen?
Would be cool place for Dr. Strange to appear periodically…the Marvel restriction notwithstanding.
Lose not loose. Sorry, pet peeve!
