Around the Universe – Discounts and News for June 2021

Summer is around the corner and that can only mean one thing: a new hot beverage option at the parks? Plus the VelociCoaster officially opens, a new Dreamworks attraction, updated Tribute Store, reopenings, and much more in this month’s Around the Universe.

Hold onto your butts, Jurassic World VelociCoaster is now open daily for technical rehearsals. This new coaster is receiving rave reviews for its airtime, wild maneuvers, and smoothness of the ride. VelociCoaster officially opens on June 10, 2021.

Jurassic World Tribute Store

To celebrate the opening of Jurassic World VelociCoaster, Univeral Studios Florida revealed the new Jurassic World Tribute Store. Open this summer for a limited time, this new themed store recreates locations from Jurassic Park, Jurassic World, and the new VelociCoaster. Inside guests will find the VelociCoaster control room, Jurassic Park egg hatching facility, and even some movie-used props. The Tribute Store also features new merchandise exclusive to the store plus unique new food options.

New Dreamworks Destination Experience

Universal has debuted a new Dreamworks character experience, Dreamworks Destination. Replacing A Day in the Park with Barney, this new show features characters from Trolls, Kung Fu Panda, and Madagascar dancing with guests. While fun and cute, the show is mostly designed for young children to let off steam. Shows run continuously throughout the day in the KidZone section of the park. We expect this attraction to run through summer 2021.

Hot Butterbeer Now Offered Year-Round

Ask any Potterhead what their favorite kind of Butterbeer is and you will get many different opinions. One favorite, Hot Butterbeer, was only offered during the seasonably chilly months. Well not anymore, as Universal Orlando announced Hot Butterbeer will be offered year-round. We can raise a cup to that.

Playground & Hotel Reopenings Pt 2

As COVID cases decrease thanks to vaccinations, Universal is reopening attractions and hotels. This past month Feivel’s Playground in Universal Studios Florida and parts of the Jurassic Park Discovery Center in Islands of Adventure reopened. Additionally, Universal’s Aventura Hotel reopens on June 16, 2021. Once Aventura re-opens all hotels at Universal Orlando will be open once again, the first time since the COVID-19 closures in March 2020.
