March 20, 2024 – Disney Cruise Line’s third Wish-class ship reached a major milestone today with its keel laying ceremony at the Meyer Werft shipyard. And along with this announcement, Disney released several details about this brand-new ship, including the name – the Disney Destiny! The Destiny is scheduled to set sail in 2025; read on for details about her theme that were released today.

Disney Destiny Theme

The Destiny will be themed around the light-side / dark-side conflict between Heroes and Villains. Imagineering teams “were inspired by the dynamic duality of every great Disney story” and guests may expect experiences and entertainment focused on heroes and villains alike. Some specific names that were floated included “The Lion King”, “Hercules”, and “One Hundred and One Dalmations”. The reveal video below features Hercules and Hades, with cameos from Scar and Cruella de Vil.

Who else is in the release video? Why, it’s Captain Minnie, of course! Donning a cape, as befits any hero, Minnie is all set to charge forth and lead her guests on epic cruise vacations. Heroes vs. Villains is a tale as old as time, but Captain Minnie is more than prepared. Check out her action-ready pose on the bow artwork and ship’s commemorative coin shown below.
