Disney in a Minute: Who are the Dapper Dans?
We’re here with a series of quick posts, “Disney in a Minute,” bite-sized nuggets of information that can better help you understand a Disney term or planning topic. Enjoy!
The Dapper Dans are an all-male barbershop quartet, four-part close harmony singers, that currently appear at Disneyland (since 1959) and Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom (since 1971). Because the Dapper Dans perform daily, unlike traditional quartets that have a fixed set of singers, the Dapper Dans have a roster of performers at each part (tenor, bass, baritone, and lead) so that members can have days off.
Showtimes at Walt Disney World are listed in the My Disney Experience app Tip Board. Performances take place on Main Street, but the actual location varies. In challenging weather, “Main Street” might be inside one of the shops along Main Street. Ask a cast member if you can’t find them.
During most times of the year, the Dapper Dans’ set list includes Disney songs and American standards, interspersed with corny jokes; however, during the holidays they will add Christmas songs and during Halloween they may appear as the “Cadaver Dans.” See above for seasonal changes in their outfits and variations on their location within the park.
