Disneyland Star Wars Docking Bay 7 Review

Docking Bay 7 is a Star Wars themed quick service restaurant in Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge located in Disneyland in California. In this post we’ll review what food this otherworldly dining location has to offer, go over the decor, and help you decide if dining here is worth your credits while visiting Batuu. It’s been almost 6 years since we originally reviewed Docking Bay 7 so today we are going to take a fresh look.

Chef Strono “Cookie” Tuggs (a blink-and-you missed-him background character from Star Wars Episode VII) has moved his “Tugg’s Grub” mobile kitchen to Black Spire’s ramshackle shipping station, converting a cluttered cargo depot into a futuristic food hall. Unfortunately Mr. Tuggs does not appear in his establishment, but we like to imagine him in the kitchen getting things just right for his guests.

Disney was fully committed to the theme with Docking Bay 7. visitors eat among various shipping containers and boxes of cargo. All appropriately grimy in appearance.

As you approach Docking Bay 7 you may notice a space ship that has landed on top of the building. Inside you’ll find one of the ship’s cargo containers being lowered into the shop. This prop doesn’t actually move, but it looks like it could at any moment.

Be sure to take a look around when you arrive. You’ll find that some of the containers are open so you can see inside.

All sorts of knick·knacks and odd locking machinery adorn the walls and platforms inside. All with that signature lived in look of the Star Wars universe.

The ordering and pick up area is similar to many other Disneyland restaurants. Line up, order at a register, and then wait at a counter in front of the kitchen for the food to arrive.

Docking Bay 7 has open seating and even though there’s a decent amount of tables they can all fill up on busy days. I prefer the nice outdoor seating area.

Endorian Fried Chicken Tip-Yip is probably the safest thing on the menu. $15.49 gets you crispy chicken, roasted pepper mash (which has been swapped out for mac & cheese in this picture), country gravy, and charred broccolini. This is a hearty meal that will appeal to most appetites.

Shaaken Beef with Tattooine Bounty with chili crisp gnocchi, peppers, onions, crispy kale and cilantro pesto. We enjoy Docking Bay 7 because of dishes like this. You won’t find many quick service entrees in Disneyland with this much variety in ingredients. It’s tasty and also on the lighter side if you don’t want a meal that’s going to weigh you down while you tour the parks.  The downside is that it’s a bit pricy at $17.99.

The Surabat Valley Greens with Roasted Tip-Yip is easily the best salad in Disneyland. $14.99 gets you a decent portion of marinated chicken, mixed greens, quinoa-veggie mix, mini peppers, olives, cotija cheese, cilantro dressing.

Felucian Kefta Garden Spread is a plant-based option thanks to the Impossible meatballs. You’ll also get some surprisingly good herb hummus along with tomato-cucumber relish and a couple of pieces pita. It’s tasty and the cheapest thing on the menu at $12.99.

You may be surprised to hear that Cold Brew Black Caf ($7.29) is one of the most popular drinks in Disneyland. This cold brew coffee topped with sweet cream cheese and chocolate puffs cereal went viral on social media a few years back and now many people are hooked. Warning: It’s very sweet!

Docking Bay 7 will occasionally get seasonal desserts but the one that is on the menu most of the year is the Vintian Mineral Mousse ($8.49). It looks appropriately weird and fits right in with the Star Wars universe. I wish every single item in Galaxy’s Edge looked like it was from an alien civilization.

The three orbs of dessert contain banana brûlée-centered dark chocolate mousse, strawberry mousse, vanilla chantilly, chocolate crumble, cherry garnish. If you’re a fan of mousse-based desserts then you’ll love this. I also find it to be creamy and delicious.

Overall Docking Bay 7 is a great alternative to the usual theme park fare. It’s not that anything here is especially inventive, it’s that you don’t expect to find items like these inside a theme park bubble. As a Star Wars obsessed kid in the 80s and 90s, I would have loved a place like this since it feels like you’re eating in the Star Wars movies.

What do you think of Docking Bay 7’s menu items? Do you enjoy or avoid this place? Let us know in the comments.
