  • Have always enjoyed N.O.J. Not sure what to make of the new venue. My biggest question is how they will handle transportation, could be a nightmare(?) I’ll reserve judgement until after the event.

  • I have gone to Night of Joy for three years in a row…I have never seen anything that would qualify as “children running rampant” through the Park during Night of Joy. At least nothing that you wouldn’t see on any other day in the Park.

As someone who regularly attends Night of Joy, this smacks of Disney taking away options. Previous years you could buy a 2 night package which got you into the Magic Kingdom Friday and Saturday at 4PM and stayed open until after Midnight, plus all the concerts after 7PM for about $120. And if you purchased early, you got the two nights plus a day at the water parks. Now, I get to pay the same price, but I only get one entry into Magic Kingdom.

I am sure some of this is weather driven, as each year the outdoor concerts have faced delays and safety concerns due to rain and thunderstorms. And being able to guarantee the concerts will take place on time is a benefit. But most of the “magic” of seeing these concerts inside the Magic Kingdom, in front of the castle, will now be stripped away. Most areas have similar Christian concert festivals that charge, much, much less. By moving the venue, taking away park access, and still charging the same amount, the value of the event is reduced significantly, mostly to the advantage of Disney.

We will go this year, mainly because we already took the time off and booked our free dining package. But I will decide if we will continue to go based on this Fall’s experience. Could be our last time. Which is a shame.

  • I’m sure the CMs are relieved to no longer have this at MK. I’ve heard many horror stories of children running rampant through the park during Night of Joy events.

This will also provide a much better venue for concert attendees. I’ve heard complaints that the NoJ events felt inferior to other concerts with the sole benefit being exploring the parks between sets.
