Guests Can Now Create MagicBands on Demand at the Magic Kingdom
Disney’s D-Tech on Demand is great for customization of great tech products. Matter of fact, I actually own a couple of the customizable cell phone covers. However, now there will be one more item that you can get customized – MagicBands. Guests are now able to purchase personalized MagicBands at the MagicBand On Demand station found inside the Tomorrowland Power & Light Co. (Which is the former location of the Tomorrowland arcade and the store where Space Mountain exits.)
At this location, Guests will be able to choose to make either a cell phone cover, or now, a specialized MagicBand on one of eight colors – yellow, orange, red, blue, pink, green, gray, and PURPLE! (That’s right…this is not a drill…) There will be 40 different graphics that can be utilized for these custom bands. Once a Guest orders their band, it will be printed on-site and can either be connected to the Guest’s My Disney Experience account or given as a gift.
The cost for a personalized MagicBand will be $29.95.
Per this article:
http://www.insidethemagic.net/merchandise/new-custom-made-on-demand-magicbands-coming-to-walt-disney-world-purple-magicband-finally-here/
The purple band is only $21.95 if not customized. Still a lot more than the $12.95 all the other colors go for at TheDisneyStore.com
I guess we now know why purple was never made available as a MB color. Disney figured they’d create a heightened sense of demand and then charge you $29.99 for it. Real chutzphah, even by WDW marketing standards.
