Late April Crowd Levels

Far be it for us to pat ourselves on the back but…pat, pat. Our last few weeks of crowd monitoring have confirmed that our estimates of high crowds during the week after Easter and of lower crowds leading in to the last weeks of April. Maximum waits at the Magic Kingdom will continue to be in the 50 to 70 range over the next ten days then increasing to the 70-90 range leading into May.

As always, the crowd calendar is subject to change as we continue to collect information about crowds this spring.

  • Question, we were at WDW 26 Apr – 1 May. Your touring plan said crowds were to be a “4” all week, yet we saw waits well above 70-90 minutes for several rides. Was this a fluke? Also, is there any way to check local school calendars for time off because there were alot of kids out of school for just being spring break? Love the “Guide” and keep up the good work.

  • So far, there is no evidence suggesting that crowds will be affected by the swine flu outbreak. We’re monitoring future bookings to see if there may be an affect on crowds in the fall.

  • Hey crowd gurus… does anyone have experience in the past week or so (as of May 2) as to how the media coverage of the “swine flu” outbreaks may (or may not) have affected crowd levels? I am assuming that people who have booked their reservations months in advance will still go… but perhaps locals will avoid the crowds? or perhaps visitors from outside the US will reconsider due to media attention?

    • We just got back. We were there from the 4th to 11th. We didn’t go to the parks on the 11th, but other than that, we went every day. Only AK on the 6th was crazy; and Sunday at Epcot seemed pretty busy but my kids were melting down so we left early. For all the other days, there were lots of people walking around, but the lines were quite short – I don’t think we ever waited more than 30 minutes for anything anywhere, and only used a FastPass once (didn’t need to, but my sister was dying to try it).

  • Very concerned about the crowd level blogs that show up. We planned our vacation dates mostly on the lower crowd level. (May 15- 22). Now I read the parks (MK) are at 10 and closing the gates due to max. capacity. Please tell me this is not true and give me some hope of sanity for a magical trip with my family of 5 kids.
p.s. LOVE the book. Read if from cover to cover.

  • Same question….I leave on thursday and was wondering if there was a chance crowd levels are going to be changed at all for the ten days following. Thanks for the response.

  • What do the 2nd and 3rd weeks of May look like for crowd levels? I checked touringplans.com, but they keep changing the crowd levels weekly. So I am not sure what to think for those May weeks. This current week was supposed to be 8-9 according to them and now they have adjusted it to between 5 and 7. UGH!! Makes planning difficult. I am thankful for any helpful info.
