Long Lines Continue at Pandora – Animal Kingdom Crowd Calendar Update

When a new super headliner attraction opens at a Disney Park, wait times go up across the whole park for about 3 to 6 months. Pandora has been open since May 2017, and we are still seeing wait times at Expedition Everest and Kilimanjaro Safaris 15% higher than usual. This increase coincides with an overall trend of higher wait times across Walt Disney World in recent months, so it may not be totally attributable to the newness of Pandora. Still, it is time to update the crowd levels at Animal Kingdom based on the new trend.

Since January 1, Animal Kingdom has seen an average crowd level between a ‘7’ and ‘8’ on our scale. Usually, it would be at least two points lower. Wait times at Pandora attractions are consistently in the range of 120 to 180 minutes. Guests who head to Animal Kingdom to take in the new attractions see the long waits and end up heading to other attractions in greater numbers than on a similar day in the past. This new calendar update for Animal Kingdom includes an increase in the wait times across the park on most days. Usually we would update the other parks, as well, but because the attractions at Pandora are having such an impact, we wanted to get this one out first.

Stay tuned for updates at the other three parks!

  • So what does this equate to for increase in attendance at AK?

After seeing this impact on AK, would you be brave enough to predict the magnitude of increase in attendance for Disney Cinemagine Park after toy story and star wars opens up?
