The Magic, The Memories, and Merch! October 2013 Photo Report of the Disney Outlet Store
It’s our favorite part of the month. Time to bathe ourselves in pixie dust, strap on our Mickey Mouse wristwatch, and put on our four armed Monsters University hoodie (because the weather is starting to turn just a little cooler) as we head out for our monthly photo report of the Disney Outlet Store.
The first thing of note when walking into the store is the amount of 2013 branded merchandise available: plenty of photo albums and magnets to grab, as well as calendars. I actually think giving someone a 2013 calendar for Christmas might make for a good gag gift with a note saying something like, “Better late than never,” or “Sorry, they were sold out of 2012s.” Or maybe rip out all the months but December and black out the first three weeks of the month. It makes for a cheap funny holiday gift!
Let’s take a look at some of the shirts available this month…
I saw that Mickey Mouse motorcycle riding club shirt, and I immediately thought of the Disneyland Social Clubs (such as the Wonderlanders, the Main St. Elite, and Neverlanders), and as a public service I want to remind you that Orlando is the official home of the best (and only) Universal Social Club, the Sons of Bananarchy.
Here’s a good Haunted Mansion shirt for Halloween.
And speaking of the Haunted Mansion, do yourself a favor and check out this recent short film by Josh and Jeremiah Daws titled “Followed From the Mansion.” A great followup to their amazing “Missing in the Mansion” short film last year.
Let’s move on from clothing and head over to check out some more Cars Land merchandise that has arrived from Disney California Adventure.
Don’t get me wrong, I think it’s neat getting Cars Land stuff and would love to see some Indiana Jones merch over here, as well, but I wonder if the California outlet stores carry Primeval Whirl or Test Track merchandise. Do they have outlets in California? They must, right? I’m gonna get Seth Kubersky on the case and track this one down.
A whole bunch of items arrived from Storybook Circus in New Fantasyland.
Tons of Monsters University items were around the store.
We saw the Three Caballeros shirt a while back; here’s a hat for them as well.
Speaking of hats…
Let’s not forget the Star Wars fans when it comes to things to put on the head…
The pixie dust is starting to wear off, so let’s get to some Vinylmation while I’m still feeling good!
Let’s close this out with a bang! At the counter they had buckets of pins for just $0.49 each. I won’t tell you how many Orange Bird ones I scooped up…
There are actually two Disney outlet stores in Orlando. Both are in Orlando Premium Outlet shopping complexes, and they are called Disney’s Character Warehouse, presumably because The Land Of Misfit Toys was already trademarked. There is one Character Warehouse located on International Drive close to Universal Studios (4951 International Dr, Orlando, FL 3281), and the other is on Vineland Avenue, right across I-4 near the exits to Disney World (8200 Vineland Ave, Orlando, FL 3282). For this edition of MMM, we went to the location near Disney.
Previous editions of Magic, Memories & Merch: July 2013, Auguest 2013, September 2013.

In the NYC metro area, all Disney outlets get Disney parks (specifically Disneyland) merch. So it does travel….
I’m pretty sure Disneyland ships all their remainders here, the only thing Orlando sends west is the occasional talented person and wheelbarrows of cash… Thank you One Disney!
The Disneystore outlet in Las Americas Outlet Mall in San Diego has some items from Disneyland, but not the variety shown here. I’m not aware of anything similar in California, but if there is please let us know!
Sorry for asking a stupid question, but is this the Disney Outlet store in Orlando? If so where is it, as we are visiting in a month and would love to go
Hi Lisa, at the end of the article I give the addresses for both Disney Outlets in Orlando. One is close to Universal and the other one off I Drive near the exit for Downtown Disney.
I love these articles! They are so fun to read. There are no outlets for the parks that I am aware of in CA. I did find a Pirates of the Caribbean ornament in a Disney Warehouse in Branson, MO a couple of years ago. That store was more of a Disney Store outlet, so the park merch was a surprise. It was my first trip to Branson, so I don’t really know if that is typical or not.
I do not understand why Disney jumps to push out the dated merch from the parks so early. We were at WDW in December 2010, and I would have loved 2013 stuff such as a magnet keychain, etc. Now I know where they were because I certainly couldn’t find them in park. I do not understand why anyone would want a 2014 item, barring a calendar, when they visit in 2013. Of course, I buy dated stuff to commemorate a visit. Maybe it’s just me.
Please keep these articles coming, they are fun and I always enjoy the laughs. And yes, that Darth Maul tee was, ummm, a puzzle. I did NOT get the little hand drawing the rainbow. It was more than a pixie dust trip that created that image. 😉
Hmm… I’m going to guess that Vinylmation is for the Land Pavilion in Epcot? I see a new game in the process! “Guess That Vinylmation!”
The Land is my guess too.
I was going to guess The Land, also!
Okay, thanks to Lynn, Leah, and Amy I decided to research this topic and it turns out it IS supposed to represent The Land! Here’s an interesting article that looks at the “inspiration.” http://www.destinationvinylmation.com/2012/07/history-of-the-land-epcot/ My mind is now blown. I don’t even remember balloons in the pavilion. Mickey shaped pumpkins? Check. Ridiculously long line for Soarin’? Check. Garden Grill an underrated place to eat at WDW? Check. Balloons? Never saw ’em.
The balloons go way back, to the Kitchen Cabaret days. They were out in the main area of the pavilion. I’m fairly sure I have a picture from the early 80s with them. What a throwback!
