Disney Springs has been rocking and rolling since its official debut one year ago, but the fun isn’t stopping, as there are still a few restaurants that are on their way and this week, a couple more got announced!

The first of these new restaurants is called Jaleo. This will be a concept brought to life by world-renowned Chef José Andrés and will bring flavors of Spain with a menu that features tapas, including paella cooked over a wood fire, hand-carved Jamon Iberico de Bellota and wood-grilled Iberico pork. This will be a multi-level restaurant that will also include a grab and go storefront with Spanish-style sandwiches on the first floor. The restaurant’s design will feature vibrant decor that represents the colorful culture of Spain. This new restaurant will open in 2018 on the West Side.

Wolfgang Puck will be represented with a new new concept that will open in Town Center. Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill will modernize the bar and grill concept. The restaurant will be inspired by traditional farmhouses with a touch of elegance. The restaurant, which will be designed by tonychi, will capture the essence of laid-back California dining made popular at Spago. The menu will highlight the best of Puck’s signature dishes with Mediterranean influences, innovative takes on comfort food classics and handcrafted specialty cocktails, beer and wine. Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill will open in 2018.

Also, as a note, a new concept will be replacing Portobello Country Italian Trattoria. This concept will feature dishes inspired by James Beard award winner and “Top Chef Master” Chef Tony Mantuano. The currently unnamed restaurant will open this fall.

Opening later in 2017 will be Wine Bar George. Here Master Sommelier George Miliotes is bringing his expertise. The restaurant will included an unparalleled wine list, sharable plates, cheeses, charcuterie, and other dishes. Brand new concept art was released showcasing the new 210-seat wine bar that is reminiscent of a winemaker’s home estate.

Finally, as a reminder, The Edison is still slated to open this fall. This will be a lavish “Industrial Gothic” restaurant, bar, and nighttime destination. The Edison will be themed to a 1920s-era electric company, recalling an exuberant era of invention and imagination with entertainment that includes contortionists, aerialists, DJs and more.

I thought the restaurants at Disney Springs were great already, but I don’t know about you, but I cannot wait to try these new options when they open!

  • These new restaurants look really cool but I’m fearful of the prices. I hope they are reasonable otherwise it’s just another place out of reach for most people.

  • Do we know if either Jaleo or Puck’s is going into a location currently holding another restaurant? There have been various rumors . . . .

    • . . .answering my own question, Jaleo is moving in to the space currently occupied by Puck’s existing places, and the new Puck will be a new structure.

  • Andres is a DC staple, known for his innovative, popular, and well-reviewed restaurants; several make the various “Best of DC” lists put out each year.

Jaleo, particularly the original one downtown, is the jewel in the crown. Phenomenal food. He didn’t invent tapas (obviously), but Jaleo was one of the first restaurants in the States to popularize it.
