New Year’s Eve Festivities at the Walt Disney World Resort

If you’ll be celebrating New Year’s Eve at Walt Disney World, this year, you’ll have four theme park options to choose from to ring in 2020, for the first time ever. Here’s what’s going on at each of the four Walt Disney World theme parks.

Magic Kingdom

Guests will be able to experience two nights of New Year’s fun! The “Fantasy in the Sky” fireworks show will take place at 11:50 p.m. on both December 30 and 31. The same show will also be presented at 6:30 p.m. for those looking to wrap things up a little earlier. In addition, head to Frontierland and Tomorrowland to dance your way into 2020, as both lands offer DJ parties on both December 30 and 31.

Epcot

My favorite park for celebrating the new year! From 7:00 p.m. – 1:00 a.m. there will be DJ dance parties throughout the park, including a “Silent Groove” party in Future World. There will be two showings of “Epcot Forever” – one at 6:30 p.m. and one at 11:40 p.m. The second performance will be followed by a countdown and pyrotechnic salute to the New Year. (And if it’s the same salute that has been shown in the past, it won’t just be a salute to America.)

Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Beginning at 7:00 p.m. there will be a DJ dance party at Center Stage, which leads up to a countdown to midnight and fireworks celebration. Guests will be able to experience the “Wonderful World of Animation” at 6:05 p.m. and two nighttime spectaculars, with “Jingle Bell, Jingle BAM!” at 6:30 p.m. and “Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular” just after midnight.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom

For the first time, Disney’s Animal Kingdom will stay open until midnight on New Year’s Eve. DJs will start the party at 6:15 p.m. in Discovery Island, Asia, and DinoLand, U.S.A. And as midnight approaches, you can count down to 2020 with special celebratory moments at each DJ location or by experiencing “Tree of Life – Awaken the New Year” on Discovery Island.
