Night of Joy Has Been Cancelled at Walt Disney World
I had suspected it for weeks, with the lack of news and the removal of the Night of Joy Facebook page, but today, it was confirmed by the Orlando Sentinel that the event will not be returning to the Walt Disney World Resort.
According to a Disney spokesperson, “Last year was our last event.”
Night of Joy was a Christian music event that featured many Christian music artists, activities, and more. The event mostly took place at the Magic Kingdom, however it did have a brief stint at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, before moving over to the ESPN Wide World of Sports, where it was held the last two years. When it moved over to the Wide World of Sports, the event got larger, with an expo, a family activity zone, and FanFest.
Artists for this event have included MercyMe (who will be performing at the Eat to the Beat Concert Series this year – and that announcement was another clear indication to me that this event wasn’t coming back), Mandisa, Kirk Franklin, Stephen Curtis Chapman, Jars of Clay, Amy Grant, and Michael W. Smith.
For those looking to attend a Christian music festival in Orlando, Universal Orlando Resort will still be offering their hard ticketed event called Rock the Universe.

I am very disappointed my granddaughter a devoted Christian wont get the same supportive Christian concerts in her young life. Disney you betrayed the fans and turned into a evil corporation.
Very disappointed in Disney’s ”Night of Joy”. After so many years and it’s popularity. Unexplainable after 34 years! So disappointed in Disney Corporation.
Disney didn’t cancel, the organizers just couldn’t afford to rent out the park. It wasn’t a Disney sponsored event like Mickey’s Halloween party. Gay days isn’t a disney sponsored event either,
it’s just ‘hey let’s all meet at the park on X days” although the gay days people have rented out Typhoon Lagoon for a nighttime disco party.
I am sad to hear this! I am thankful that I got to attend in 2016. I was hoping they were just taking a year off.
They’ll blame the usual suspects but it either comes down to money or SJW (or both).
They had a great Christian festival at Six Flags Atlanta in the past but that was canceled a few years back.
This is truly heartbreaking. An event I’ve lived going to for most of my life. Some super special memories I’ve had there.
I knew it was doomed when they moved it to wide world of sports. They took away the uniqueness of the festival by disconnecting it from the attractions.
Did they give a reason? Or just cite poor sales?
