Review: Wonderful Walk of Colorful Cuisine at Festival of the Arts
The Wonderful Walk of Colorful Cuisine is back at EPCOT’s Festival of the Arts! The prize is going to look familiar but some of the food is new.
The Basics

Collect a free Festival Passport – they’re everywhere! You can find passports at both entrances, merch locations, and all festival kitchens. Turn to the last two pages of the passport to find qualifying items and your stamp page.
Purchase any 5 items on the Wonderful Walk menu above and get a stamp for each item. When you approach the register, you’ll have your passport open, order your menu item, and hand your passport to the attending Cast Member to stamp once you have paid.

Once you have all of your stamps, bring your passport to Deco Delights near Port of Entry for your prize. You don’t need to stand in the regular line to the right of the kitchen if you’re only there to pick up your prize. You’ll see the sign above, left, next to the redemption window.
The prize for your journey is the super sweet crispy bar in the picture below.

What We Ate
Figment’s Inspiration Station at the Odyssey

Popcorn, Popcorn Chicken and Waffles, $6.79 –
This was a huge miss. The chicken was rubbery and had the flavor of breading and not much else. The waffle was just a waffle but with lots of food coloring, and the sauce just made everything sticky and soggy. Get literally any other item on the Walk menu to get your stamps.

Color Scheme Cake, $5.29-
This fruit-flavored rainbow-hued cake was actually good. We were surprised, too! The Skittles are fun and this really wasn’t a bad sweet treat!
Gourmet Landscapes, Canada Pavilion

Citrus-braised Beet Tartare, $5.49-
Golden Beet “Egg Yolk”, Mustard Vinaigrette, Pickled Mustard Seeds, Pickled Mushrooms, Spiced Pistachios, and “Feta” Snow. This is far and away our favorite item on the Wonderful Walk of Colorful Cuisine! We’ve espoused the talents of the culinary team that is in charge of beets before, but we’ll do it again. This dish is what every plant-based festival should be! Each beet, while technically the same vegetable, is prepared in a different way, has different textures, and varying levels of deep sweetness. This dish is a joy.
Swirled Showcase

Liquid Nitrogen Minnie Cake Pop, $4.79-
Cotton Candy Sponge Cake with White Chocolate Ganache, and Colorful Chocolate Splats. This is adorable and sweet but they were all prepped and ready to go when we got to the window and seeing the liquid nitrogen dip in festivals past usually gives this kitchen special buzz. The cake pop was better than the popcorn chicken, though!
Vibrante & Vívido

Chorizo and Potato Empanada, $6.79 –
The pretty sauces on top are Turmeric Aïoli and Annatto Aïoli. If you like chorizo, this is a great use of a Disney Dining Plan Snack Credit because it’s so filling. We’d get this one again.
The Deconstructed Dish

Deconstructed Key Lime Pie, $5.29-
Key Lime Curd, Key Lime Gelée, Toasted Meringue, and Graham Cracker Crumbs with Waffle Cone Triangles. Have you ever underbaked a Pavlova but in the best way? The toasted and slightly cracked rim (it’s so hard to keep that dang over door closed that long!!) of this dish is billed as “Toasted Meringue” but it’s but bigger than that! The thin exterior was waved under a torch and has the smallest, crunchy resistance. But then, THEN!, you get a mouth full of fluffy, marshmallowy meringue that has no trace of undissolved sugar! The graham cracker crumbs aren’t really necessary but they’re cute. Let’s talk about the combo of the Key Lime Curd with the puddle of Key Lime Gelée! We implore you to have one separate bit of each item – deconstructed, if you will – before you swirl everything to get a complete bite of all of the flavors and textures. This is so simple and so well done. Even if you aren’t trying to complete 5 passport stamps, you should get this dish!
Stay tuned for more from Festival of the Arts!
