Snacks in the France Pavilion

A few of us may have failed French class (a few times), but that doesn’t stop us from appreciating the delightful nibbles that can be found in the France Pavilion of EPCOT. Before you comment that we forgot to mention crêpes, we most certainly did not. They simply deserve their own post. Let’s talk about the best non-crêpe locations to grab a treat in Remy’s neighborhood.

Les Halles Boulangerie-Patisserie

Les Halles is ranked #9 of 107 Quick Service locations in Walt Disney World by TouringPlans subscribers. It’s located in the heart of the pavilion, flanked by purveyors of adult spirits, cute French-themed merch, and excellent sorbet and ice cream. Once you cross the arches, you’ll see there are lots of small tables smooshed together on one side of the hall, and a merch location with a Kidcot Fun Stop on the other.

Magic, Chocolate-Dipped, and Laminated

You probably already have a favorite order at Les Halles, but it’s time to add another. The Croiss-Oh-La-La! is a chocolate-dipped croissant that is bigger than the plate it occupies.

Evidence

If this stunning display of chocolate and buttery, flaky joy isn’t your thing, may we recommend the best snack value in EPCOT?

The Half-Baguette, warm and crusty, is still only $2.95. Ask for butter and throw it in the bag to warm up next to the bread as you pay and find a spot to snack. We happen to know that the half-baguette fits perfectly in an average Loungefly with room to spare.

Although it opens for Early Entry, there is only one menu at Les Halles. This means you can get the Dinde B.L.T., $10.95 at 8:30am or 8:30pm.

Baguette in bag, we suggest you make your next stop L’Artisan des Glaces, the waffle cone-scented door on your right as you exit Les Halles.

The Macaron Ice Cream Sandwich, $8.95, is remarkable. The cold ice cream makes the inner marshmallowy texture of the giant macaron toothsome. We’ve researched dozens of these over the years and have’t stumbled on a wrong combination yet.

Speaking of stumble, the Ice Cream Martini, $14.95, is a solid reason to brave the usually long, slow lines at L’Artisan des Glaces. You can get two scoops of any ice cream or sorbet with a shot of Whipped Cream Vodka, Rum, or Grand Marnier. We’ve been in a Grand Marnier loop for a few years but it’s important to note that the Whipped Cream Vodka goes well with literally anything in their case. The only ice cream / beverage combo in EPCOT that tops this is the Affogato Espresso Gelato, $12.75, in the Italy pavilion. That divine cup of ice cream and adrenaline doesn’t have alcohol, so if you’re after a bit of a buzz with your frozen treat then this Martini is your pick.

You’ll note from the graphic above that Les Halles is rated “Exceptional” by TouringPlans subscribers, while L’Artisan is simply “Average”. We sifted through TP Trip Survey comments about L’Artisan and the common theme of the negative reviews are centered on the long waits. There are a few that mention the sogginess of The Croque Glacé, $10.95, and we have to agree. While this Brioche and ice cream sandwich is a darling of our Instagram FYP, it just ends up being a wet bread mess.
