The Seas with Nemo and Friends Delayed Openings October 11-14
The Seas with Nemo and Friends pavilion at Epcot will have delayed openings while repairs are made to tank systems. The delayed 11:00am openings of the pavilion are currently scheduled for October 11-14, 2011.
Problems with the reef tank systems caused an unexpected closure of the pavilion back on October 7, 2011, and Disney has been racing to find a solution since then. On the October 9 I posted an update on my own little blog, The Epcot Explorer’s Encyclopedia, as the first details of the extent of the problems of the pavilion’s marine systems were coming to light. You can head over there if you want a better understanding of the history of the pavilion’s systems and how this isn’t the first time the infrastructure of the marine environment has caused serious problems.
Otherwise, be aware of the delayed opening schedule (shouldn’t you be getting a FASTPASS for Soarin’ and Test Track at that hour, anyway?) and the possibility of further closures/delays as Disney works to solve the tank problems. Additionally, some tank inhabitants have been temporarily relocated to the backstage holding tanks while the system is repaired; that means there will be fewer fish on display.
I wondered if something like that happened. We were there in the afternoon that day and the tip board said that both The Seas and Turtle Talk were “Down” instead of closed, like they say after hours. We saw other people later that night who were very upset about their ADRs at Coral Reef being cancelled. Aside from that, we did see a lot of action going in and out the door by the gift shop, but no details were being given out by the CMs standing guard. Thanks for the update.
Sigh. I just found out that my Aqua Seas tour on October 22 has been canceled. To quote the message from Disney:
“Unfortunately we have had to cancel all dive operations for this month or through the end of the month and this program is included in it. “
I was wondering what would happen if they needed to do a sudden, long-term closure to fix this problem.
Specifically, what would happen to those who had made ADRs to Coral Reef, 180 days ago? Would they get moved to another restaurant? Or would they get a behind-the-scenes look at the repairs?
They’d get their dining reservation canceled and called to re-book at locations that have openings, no discount offered.
