Universal Crowd Calendar Update For July 2021

Despite limited attendance at Orlando’s “other” theme park, Universal Orlando Resort continues to break crowd level records. Crowd levels have dipped below a level ‘6’ only once in the last 40 days and the average crowd level during that time was 8.7. No other 40-day period in Universal’s history has an average that high. Of course, this continues to be more of a reflection on the increased posted times as a result of operation measures rather than record attendance.

Crowded Parks, Very High Posted Times

We see no sign of these high crowd levels diminishing anytime soon so this update will just be a refresh of the latest trends. If you are visiting Universal Studios this summer you should expect to see crowd levels above ‘8’ nearly every day. At Islands of Adventure crowd levels will be a point or two below that, but still very crowded. The new Jurassic World VelociCoaster is seeing some significant posted wait times since opening. We have collected 4,331 wait times for VelociCoaster and the average wait time is 66 minutes.

The most common posted wait times are 75 and 60 minutes or less frequently, 45 or 90. I don’t see any visual pattern with the trend of average daily wait times but I am surprised to see such variation day to day. This means that a good prediction can really be advantageous when you have VelociCoaster as part of your touring plan. The more wait times we get, the more accurate the predictions become. Updates for 2021 and Beyond

This update covers dates through the end of 2021. Dates in 2022 may be updated next month depending on what information we have on the likely travel trends in the coming months. Although social distancing restrictions are lifting there are still a lot of unknowns. It may be that there is a significant influx of guests in the fall as we say goodbye and good riddance to COVID-19 or we may see guest hesitancy persist through the middle of 2022. A lot is yet to be observed and we will be watching carefully. Our updates for Universal are rolling out every 30 days or so and we expect that to continue throughout the summer.
