Walt Disney World Introduces New Way to Find Lost Items
Have you ever lost something while visiting the Walt Disney World Resort? We have. My husband accidentally left his glasses on the bus one time and we had to trek all the way over to the Lost and Found building which could be found near the Magic Kingdom. It was definitely a pain and a hassle. (And they never did find his glasses.) So, I for one am very excited about this new development, because the resort is introducing a brand new online tool to report lost items.
If you have now lost an item at any Walt Disney World theme park, Disney Springs, on transportation, at the ESPN Wide World of Sports or at a Disney Water Park, you’ll be able to visit this new site to help track your missing items by filing out a lost item report. You’ll simply need to fill out your name, contact info, and description of the item.
Once you fill out the online form you will receive an email notification with your Lost Item claim number. Disney will then look for your item and provide you with an email update within 48 hours. You will then be contacted if they believe that they have found the item(s) or if they need further information.
Here’s a brief video explaining the process:
I think this is a great new tool and one that will certainly be handy for those who may need to utilize the Lost and Found services.
This is the worst online development they have created for lost and found! I accidentally left my bathing suit and hat in a drawer at the resort I was staying in which was the “Contemporary Disney Resort”. Once I was on the road I realized I had forgotten my bathing suit so I called the resort immediately. There response was ohh we don’t deal with lost and found you have to fill out the online form for lost and found. I told them that I don’t have time for that I asked them if someone could go back to the room for me and get my stuff. They said they cant do that. So disappointed! I ended up filling the form and that was just a joke! All I received was an email notification with the Item claim number. ”Disney will look for your item and provide you with an email update within 48 hours.” Got nothing. All it was a repetitive email that did nothing. 3 weeks later still nothing. After many attempts and email and phone calls they didn’t care. So I’m taking my own actions for this. How said that disney couldn’t come up with better services for such a thing that could have been easily handled. I have a better system for them and not complicating at all! It’s sad with all the money Disney has they can’t find people’s items.
This is fantastic, kudos to Disney! I’ve always wondered how many sunglasses and baseballs hats are found on a given day. Can we crunch the numbers on that, Steve?
At least less of them will end up in a landfill now that the process of recovery is simplified.
I lost my eyeglasses once in Typhoon Lagoon. I mistakenly wore it will swimming in their wave pool. I called Lost and Found when I got home. They found it and shipped it to our home free of charge. They were fantastic! This app could really help a lot.
Will this be available for Resorts too? I left jewelry in a drawer on our last visit. I called the Resort within an hour of checkout to see if someone could go back to the room for me. They said they found nothing. I kept calling Lost & Found for several days to see if anything was turned it and nothing.
But I think having something like this for the Resorts as well will help with turnaround times and the ability to report missing items.
