12 Must Try Disneyland 70th Celebration Food Items
Disneyland is 70 years old and a year long celebration is currently taking place. That can only mean one thing: Tons of desserts with bright colors thanks to a ton of food dye! With so many 70th anniversary items to try at almost every Disneyland restaurant, you may not know where to start. Today we’ll tell you the top 12 must try food items.
70th Celebration Churro – $7.50 – Churros near Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Haunted Mansion, or Town Square
It wouldn’t be a Disney celebration without a new churro or two. The 70th Celebration Churro is rolled in ube sugar and topped with marbled blue raspberry icing drizzle and sprinkles. I’m a huge fan of ube and I thought this was a great churro. If I got this again I’d get it without the sprinkles, but it does look good aesthetically.
Celebration Matterhorn Macaroon – $8.29 – Jolly Holiday Bakery Cafe
The Matterhorn Macaroon is on the Mount Rushmore of all time great Disneyland desserts. If you don’t know, it’s a coconut macaroon dipped in white chocolate, which looks like the parks famous Matterhorn mountain. This celebration version adds sprinkles on top. It’s worth mentioning this treat’s fame has caused several price increases over the years. It started out around $2 and even as recent as only a couple of months ago it was still around $5.
70th Celebration Macaron – $8.29 – Jolly Holiday Bakery Cafe
Another fun and festive dessert at Jolly Holiday Bakery is the 70th Celebration Macaron. It includes vanilla bean buttercream, strawberry jam, and fresh strawberry with strawberry whipped topping and strawberry crunch. It’s like a piece of strawberry shortcake with a macaron on top.
Lemon Chiffon Pretzel – $8.50 – Tomorrowland Pretzel Cart (near Star Tours)
What a glorious mess this is. The Lemon Chiffon Pretzel is a cream cheese-filled pretzel dipped in lemon-flavored icing, topped with crushed vanilla wafers. If it looks like a sloppy mess, that’s because it is. If you like lemon-based desserts then this is a must have. I thought this was one of the best items for Disneyland’s 70th celebration.
Hook’s Galley Tuna Melt – $13.99 – Red Rose Taverne
There’s more than just desserts for Disneyland’s 70th birthday. Here you get fresh tuna salad topped with muenster and herb-marinated tomatoes and served with house chips. This was way better than I expected and a great option for those looking for items other than quick service burgers in the park.
Some 70th celebration items have names that reference long gone Disneyland attractions and restaurants. Hook’s Galley Tune Melt is named after Captain Hook’s Galley, which was a restaurant located inside a recreation of Captain Hook’s famous ship. The ship was in Fantasyland from the park’s opening in 1955 all the way until 1982.
Cow Boy Fries – $13.99 – The Golden Horseshoe
Sometimes in life you just want a big pile of slop. The Cow Boy Fries are comprised of fries, nacho cheese, sautéed ground beef, burger sauce, and butter pickles. The closest real world comparison I can think of is Anaimal Style Fries from In-N-Out.
70th Stuff – $7.29 – Red Rose Taverne
Red Rose Taverne’s Beauty and the Beast-inspired Grey Stuff has been temporarily sidelined for “70th Stuff.” It’s a shortbread cookie with a cookies and cream cake, fresh raspberry, and raspberry jam surrounded with white chocolate mousse and topped with colored sprinkles. This is for people who enjoy the frosting part of a cake rather than the cake itself.
House-filled Celebration Beignet – $5.99 – Tiana’s Palace
The filled beignets at Tiana’s Palace have gotten a lot better since it opened a couple of years ago. The Celebration version is filled with raspberry mousse, buttercream glaze, edible candle, and sprinkles. It’s good, but warning, the ton of blue frosting on top will turn your teeth and tongue blue for a couple of hours.
W.E.D. Chili Cheese Baked Potato – $11.99 – Troubadour Tavern
I fully admit I spend way too much time in Disneyland thanks to this job. With that said I understand the following statement will get me odd looks from anyone who doesn’t live that life style. Here it goes… Disneyland made me fall in love with baked potatoes. The park’s Troubadour Tavern restaurant always finds new things to shove into and on top of potatoes and I’m a total sucker for it every single time. The W.E.D. baked potato is topped with beef and bean chili, cheese, sour cream, diced onions, and cornbread. It’s fantastic.
W.E.D. is the original name for Walt Disney Imagineering and also the initials of Walt Disney.
Space Place Cottage Fries – $9.49 – Galactic Grill
What is there not to like about this item? Thin potato slices fried and tossed in parmesan butter, parsley and served with house-made ranch. They’re delicious. I made the mistake of sharing these with two other people.
As for the name Space Place, it was a quick service restaurant in Tomorrowland open 1977 to 1996 and it was one of my favorite places to hang out in the park. It was located where the current Space Mountain entrance is, and there were tables on the upper patio where Space Mountain’s current Lightning Lane is located. It was always so nice and peaceful up there.
Tiramisu Cold Brew – $7.29 – Troubadour Tavern
I’m not a coffee drinker but I’ve heard nothing but good things from friends who have tried this and love the rich chocolate taste. It includes dark chocolate cold brew with tiramisu topper and ladyfinger cookie.
Mickey-shaped Celebration Waffles – $10.99 – Schmoozies (in Disney California Adventure)
As usual, I tried all these items with my good friends the Brickers. We saved the Mickey-shaped Celebration Waffles for late in the day because we assumed they’d be the usual run-of-the-mill Mickey waffles. However, we were wrong! These Mickey waffles are filled with strawberry cream and topped with sprinkles and powdered sugar. They were also warm, delicious, and I highly recommend them.

Thank you for this great post! I cannot believe the desserts are so bonkers that I’m drawn to the tuna melt. I remember the ship in Fantasyland and thinking who wants a tuna sandwich at Disneyland?! And yet….
It’s hard work, but somebody’s got to do it. Thanks, Guy!
Also, I expect this is a problem without a remedy, but: is there any way to make sure the ads don’t come in between the picture and the text that goes with the picture? For much of this post, I can’t see the picture and the text at the same time because there’s a big ad in the middle. E.g., when I read: “If I got this again I’d get it without the sprinkles, but it does look good aesthetically,” I have to scroll up because the picture is off the screen.
To be clear, I’m not complaining about the presence or number of ads, just their placement.
Hey hizouse, I can answer this one. For one picture/text combo, yes. For a long series of them like there are in this article, no. The problem is that when you specify too many places where you don’t want the ads to go, the results can be … worse than if you had left them alone. Appreciate your tolerance for the number/presence, I think I speak for everyone on the blog team when I say that we would also love to live in a world where they weren’t a necessary evil.
