Ahoy, mateys! I’m Heather, and I’ll be bringing you the up and coming on all things Disney Cruise Line. Welcome back again this week. Let’s see what’s new in the DCL world!

Ports of Call

Disney Cruise Line: In The News

Yesterday, the Port of Galveston announced a berthing agreement with Disney Cruise Line for the next 10 years. With three new ships on the horizon in coming years, it will be great to see what is to come for this port!

DCL also announced that in 2019, all Alaska sailings previously scheduled to visit Tracy Arm Fjord will all visit Endicott Arm Fjord instead. Weather and ice often prove challenging for ships at Tracy Arm, often forcing the change to Endicott over the past years.

Next week, our own Angela will be sailing on the Disney Dream! Follow along on social media for updates on her adventure.

Here’s this week’s special offers. Most every week of the year, Disney Cruise Line releases special offers for Florida Residents and U.S. Military Personnel.  There are also frequently IGT/OGT/VGT rates available for all guests to book.  These offers are extremely limited in availability, and all come with certain restrictions, but the prices are amazing! You can book these online, on the phone, or with your travel agent. These are the current offers available this week:

Upcoming Entertainment

The following films are being shown aboard the Disney Cruise Line ships this month:

  • Star Wars: The Last Jedi
  • Avengers: Infinity War
  • Solo: A Star Wars Story
  • Incredibles 2
  • Ant-Man and The Wasp
  • Christopher Robin
  • The Nutcracker and the Four Realms
  • Ralph Breaks the Internet
  • Mary Poppins Returns

For future reference, films debut on Disney Cruise Line the same day of their initial release in the United States. Films do vary by ship. Show times are available in your Personal Navigator or the official Disney Cruise Line app.

Captain’s Log: Important Tips and Information

“I drink it when I’m happy and when I’m sad.
Sometimes I drink it when I’m alone.
When I have company I consider it obligatory.
I trifle with it if I’m not hungry and drink it when I am.
Otherwise, I never touch it – unless I’m thirsty.” ~ Lilly Bollinger

If you immediately recognize this quote, you may in fact be a frequent visitor of Pink on the Disney Dream! (No judgment – I am too.) Pink is a champagne bar that can be found in The District, exclusive to the Dream.

The color scheme is largely, as you may have guessed, pink, entwined with gold and silver. Behind the bar is a gorgeous backdrop, and I’m not just referring to the bottles in the silver buckets. Glass “bubbles” rise up from the center display, setting the theme of this entire space – you are transported right into a glass of bubbly. Even the light fixtures from the ceiling are upside down champagne flutes. Seating ranges from sleek barstools at the pink pearlized bar, to elegant tufted chairs and benches along the wall.

Speaking of the wall….remember when Dumbo took a swig from the “grown-ups barrel” and found himself in the company of dancing pink elephants? Look closely at the lighted bubbles on the wall…and you too may start seeing pink elephants dancing about. Just don’t mistake it as an effect of any questionable beverages here, because there are no questionable choices here!

And now speaking of beverages… The menu here is largely, of course, champagne! There’s a lovely variety of options, both by the glass and by the bottle. Unique champagne-centered cocktails are also on the menu if you are looking for something different. Try the Icy Pop – a glass of Moet & Chandon Ice Imperial with a popsicle plopped in the glass! For those who don’t prefer bubbles, there are some wines available as well.

In the evenings, when this space is just for adults, you can often find live music here. Enjoy tunes from a live pianist or violinist, fitting with the theme of this lounge.

Pink is definitely one of my top favorite lounges across the fleet – have you popped in here? Tell me in the comments!
