Walt Disney World News–Week of March 30, 2019

We now have an opening date for the venue that–well, I’m sure someone likes basketball and will enjoy the NBA Experience. (Don’t mind me. I’m just nursing my wounds from my March Madness bracket.)

News

  • There’s still plenty blooming at Epcot. The Epcot International Garden Festival is open and runs through June 3, 2019. There’s food, merchandise, concerts, and of course flowers and greenery. Read details on the official page here.
  • The NBA Experience at Disney Springs will be opening on August 12. You can read more details about it here. Part of me wonders if there will be an effort to keep it current or if it will languish over the years like DisneyQuest did in that location. Time will tell.
  • Even though this week has had frigid temperatures down in the 60s, water park season is right around the corner. There’s certainly some intriguing things coming to Disney water parks this year (guacamole flight? huh?), and I’m curious to see whether people are on board with the Splash Pack deal with food, a refillable mug, and a souvenir towel. You can read more here.
  • HOT OFF THE PRESSES: This morning, Disney released some new rules for what you can and can’t bring into the parks. Included in the changes, which take place May 1, are size limits for strollers; a ban on stroller wagons in the parks; smoking bans inside WDW theme parks, water parks, and Wide World of Sports; and a ban on loose ice or dry ice in coolers/cooler bags. You can read the official release here.
