It is officially time to say goodbye. Ok…well, not this minute, but we now know the date in which we’ll have to say goodbye to the Epcot nighttime fireworks spectacular, Illuminations: Reflections of Earth. The last night you’ll be able to catch this show that has been running for 20 years is on September 30.

But, don’t worry, the next night you’ll still get to see a fireworks show. That’s when the new limited-time show, Epcot Forever will debut. (That’s October 1, and the park’s anniversary, for those keeping score.)

As we recently shared, Epcot Forever will celebrate the 37-year history of the park with fireworks, lasers and lighting effects set to a soundtrack of Epcot songs we know and love. Epcot Forever will include special effects-enabled kites that are capable of airborne choreography. The illuminated kites will be controlled by two-man teams aboard Jet Ski-like personal watercraft and the show will make use of eight of the Jet Skis, with a driver and kite performer aboard each personal watercraft. The movement of the Jet Skis will also create the wind required to keep the kites aloft.

Epcot Forever will run into 2020, when it will be replaced by the next epic nighttime extravaganza makes its debut. The new permanent show will celebrate how Disney music inspires people around the globe and will feature massive floating set pieces, LED panels and choreographed fountain displays.

Stay tuned for more details about the upcoming permanent nighttime spectaculars.

How do you expect this will effect crowds at Disney World during this time? I know Illuminations has been very popular and is well loved.
