This weekend starts off with Memorial Day weekend. There are significant Passholder Blockouts in effect, however, so we’re not predicting horrible crowds for the holiday weekend.

The other big thing happening this week? I’m not sure if you’ve heard, but there is this little thing called Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge they have been working on for a while, and Friday, May 31, is opening day! To help you prepare yourself, our team has been hard at work detailing the latest news as it rolls out:

We’ll be continuing to post new stories as we learn more about the new Land and get the opportunity to experience it after it opens, so make sure you’re coming back regularly in the weeks ahead for more information!

Remember, you’ll need a reservation to enter the area between its opening at the end of the month and June 23; for details on how to obtain them (to the extent they are available), check here. At this point, all reservations to the general public are booked;  if you want one, you’ll have to have a reservation at one of the three Disneyland Resort hotels. Starting on June 24, you will no longer need a reservation, and Disneyland will instead utilize a virtual queue system.

Also, as Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge approaches, Disneyland is nearing the end of its Get Your Ears On Celebration, commemorating 90 years of Mickey and Minnie Mouse. Keep your eyes open for special menu selections, treats, character greetings, entertainment, and merchandise throughout the resort. Make sure you check out Rikki’s preview and Guy’s rundown of the best snacks for more details on what to expect.

Finally, it’s time for Grad Nites at Disney’s California Adventure. The events themselves are after hours and shouldn’t seriously impact crowds, but you might well see more grads-to-be in the hours leading up the event. This week, Grad Nites will be held on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday.

Crowds

Even with the holiday weekend, the crowds are not horrible this week.  This is the last of the light weeks before summer, as many kids are still in school.  Friday, which is the opening of Galaxy’s Edge, is predicted to have the highest crowds, but even those are predicted to be a very manageable level 6 for the entire Disneyland resort. That said, it’s a tale of two parks–Disneyland park itself will be a 9, with considerably smaller crowds at DCA. Unless you’ve got a reservation to get into Galaxy’s Edge, your best bet would be to avoid Disneyland on that Friday, as there may be some crowds showing up with the desire to soak in the “I was there” vibe. If you do go to Disneyland park, expect longer lines to get through bag check and into the park, and the possibility of parking garage closures. There may also be a spike on some ride wait times for people who didn’t realize that you have to have a reservation to get into Galaxy’s Edge or hoped that Disney would open it up to the general public and decide to make the best of it anyhow when they were turned away.

Full details, including park-by-park crowd levels, are available on our Crowd Calendar.

Weather

It should once again be a fairly nice week.  Highs range from the upper 60s to mid-70s, and there are only a couple of days with a slight chance of rain over the course of the week.

As always, it’s wise to double check the weather as the day of your visit approaches. Check out the most up-to-date forecast here.

Disneyland has a full slate of entertainment all week long. Detailed show schedules, including smaller diversions like The Dapper Dans, can be found here.
